Yea, given he was the main inspiration behind Star Wars and The Magnificent 7, hard to argue it :D I do recall watching the 7 Samurai when in Galway - I wonder did I borrow it off you? :D

    Quite possibly you did ;)

The Hidden Fortress is the one that inspired Star Wars, but I think one of his most underrated movies is Sanjuro, it's the sequel to Yojimbo and although a bit kinda lighthearted it's an absolute cracking watch. Throne of Blood is amazing too.

Kurosawa's non-samurai movies are amazing too, and one of my favourites ever was High and Low which is a crime story, it's slow to get started but ends up being one of the most gripping things ever. In fact, you can just watch everything he's done, because chances are it's absolute gold. The guy was the father of modern cinema, he inspired Lucas, Spielberg, Coppola, Leone, ****ing nearly everyone.

Check out his 1985 masterpiece Ran. He was so old his sight was going at that time, but he still storyboarded the whole thing with paintings, the sets that were built are breathtaking, they even made an entire castle just for the film and then burned it, so they only had one take to get things right. It's slow to start, but once it gets going it's one of the most visually impressive things ever put to film.

And well, it's just freakin' incredible ;)

quick question folks, when flying, the liquids in clear bags and meds, do they go in your hand luggage or the bag that goes on the plane?

  • Registered Users Posts: 71,799 ✭✭✭✭Ted_YNWA

they can go in either. As long as they are less than 100ml, they can be carry on.

If they are important meds, I would be bringing them onboard.
