Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We have an electrician coming tomorrow and although we currently do not have a surround sound system in the living room we would like to set one up in the near future. New plaster and paint are going up so now we an an opportunity to hide cables in the wall. The room is 2.3m x 4.8m, TV will be wall mounted on one of the 2.3m walls, with a couch placed at the other end with two arm chairs in front of the couch against each 4.8 wall, leaving a walkway between them. Our media equipment will be in a cupboard hidden in a corner near the television. Please advise what type of cable should be used and where they should be run to from the media cupboard. The electrician mentioned some cable was just as good as the usual audio cable but cheaper, unfortunately I was on the road and did not get a chance to right down what he said.

Age old question: specialised vs bog standard cable? Personally when wiring for surround I went for a low cost Kimber cable, when I say low cost, Cloney gave me a box as part of a package.

Re cables in general, I have noticed differences between some cables in years gone by. I have given up on the quest for audio nirvana and generally settle for something middle of the road which has a bit of warmth.

When wiring, it is a good idea to leave an open duct running from behind the tv down to behind your receiver or separates. You can hide all current and future cables.

I would get another electrician, you have two other threads asking for advice on other cables also.
