Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fact is these figthers are getting opptunities because of Mcgregor. Pendred is not UFC level and I fear for his health if his going up against strikers where he is painfully outgunned. I hope he is cut soon for his own health.

He reminds of the simpsons episode where Homer takes up boxing.

They are getting opportunities off their own merit and previous fights. McGregor just made the UFC take a closer look at signing fighters from Ireland since they were last here when Tom Egan had his chance. If they werent decent fighters they wouldnt be getting signed. McGregor is a more polished fighter and in is division is pretty dominant so far but theres nothing to say he wont lose a fight at some point in the UFC the same as any other Irish fighter. The others are still honing their skills and in some cases are in very competitive divisions but to suggest they are only there because of McGregor is nonsense.

Pendred, Holohan, Daly have some of the most impressive career records of anyone that the UFC has signed in the last few years. And they've all won fights in the UFC.

Is McGregor responsible for their signings? No. Would the UFC sign high level MMA fighters from Ireland unless he had shown them the standard of MMA in Ireland? That's the question.

You could say the same for Sweden and Russia and a few other countries, McGregor has opened the door perhaps but it's ridiculous to argue that the other Irish fighters aren't good enough to be there. McGregor is possibly the biggest star that the UFC has ever had.

McGregor actually said in a interview that he got Joe Duffy signed to the UFC. So i guess Joe Duffy is there because of McGregor then?

Joe Duffy btw is an amazing fighter and the deserves to be in the UFC.

Then what the **** is your point? Joe Duffy is piggybacking off of McGregor? Seriously? Did you watch him before he signed to the UFC?

What has what Conor McGregor said got to do with what we are talking about?
When he said it I am sure it was tongue in cheek for a start.

Clearly from my post I said that any Irish fighters in the UFC are there on their own merit, not because of McGregor..that bit seems to have gone over your head and you are now trying to tell me that Joe Duffy deserves to be in the UFC because of his talent..something I already said. You are talking utter nonsense.

My point is that the previous poster said that no way SBG fighters are in the UFC because of McGregor. I countered this with the fact the McGregor said himself he got the UFC to sign Joe Duffy. So if he got Joe signed ???

Seriously go back and read again

I consider Joe to be possibly the best Irish fighter in the UFC

I never said SBG...I said Irish..you arent countering anything, you are just making nonsense posts which make no sense.

edit not so much in the cage, but in the intro photos

No he didn't get Joe Duffy signed. Go back and read it yourself, and while you're at it, go back and watch Joe Duffy's fights.

Aisling Daly was the number five seed on the TUF season that she participated in and she did very well in it, same for Pendred.

The world doesn't revolve around McGregor. Maybe he got people to respect the Irish MMA scene a bit, but nothing more. If Pendred, Daly and Holohan had been signed because they're buddies of McGreger then they'd already have been cut. They've won fights and held their own in the UFC.

Why are yee taking about SBG and it's fighters getting signed/fights in UFC like it a uniquely Irish thing ???

Pick any number of camps in the US, Top Team, Jacksons, XC etc etc all get fighters on UFC cards purely because of the gym they train in.

Kauffman vs Davis should be a good stand up brawl. The are definitely exciting but looking forward to some of the mens fights later, potential for some KO's

She threw it away but her killer instinct for a KO disappeared when she joined the UFC. Thought she was gonna walk it on points though anyways but great finish by Davis.
