Why does the description take a non-negligible time to appear on statements?

I feel that myself and other posters here are constantly finding things on 365online that should have been fixed long ago during development. If BoI are serious about getting people out of branches and using online services, then they need to work properly and not look like a haphazard stew of barely working functionality.

It's up to the retailer to send in the transaction for posting. The generic narrative appears when the item is still on the shadow before official posting

As Ally Dick correctly mentions the retailer will update this and it usually takes over night on a banking day.

The 365online system uses a separate database from the mainframe, it is resynchronised from the main database each night.  They bodged in a system years ago to make 365online debits and credits appear more 'real time' and basically left it at that.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

Better than nowt I say. Having instantaneous shadow posting prevents the bank from getting stung with over spending customers going mad on a weekend and all of the debits from retailers hitting en masse on a Monday. The balance needs to be kept up to date to protect the bank, and the customers from themselves
