Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

West Brom very prudent in 12/13, fair play.

Shudder to think what United's wage bill is this season when it was that high last season.

Who cares? Every facet of the game is increasing monetarily.. of course it's going to filter to the players.

Newcastle turnover went up £63 million from £66m last season that's the same as Chelsea...did Ashley win the lottery or something...

I think most fans do these days because it relates directly to what they can spen in the transfer market due to FFP.

Is total wages the new net spent for pool fans?

It does show a relationship between wages and league places though at the top level of the league. Qpr and Utd probably the stand out teams.

I dont think there would be much changes. We have offloaded many players.

    (Approx wages of players)

    Buttner - 40K
    Ferdinand - 120K
    Vidic - 120K
    Evra - 100K
    Bebe - 20K
    Kagawa - 60-80K
    Welbeck - 60K
    Fletcher - 80K
    Zaha - 40K
    Anderson - 80K
    Nani - 90K - 100K
    Hernandez - 60K
    Cleverley - 40-60K

And we have offloaded few other players, adding them all makes difference to the wages. It adds upto Million per week.

Out of interest what was burnleys. I'd imagine they would be the lowest by a considerable distance.

How on earth have Man City such a high turnover?? Is it from owners sponsoring themselves or something?

    Seems legit..

Soccernomics has proven that wages are directly related to success.

Yep, amazing United keep their wages at 50% of turnover unlike the reckless teams such as Liverpool alright...

Wouldn't matter much when you consider their turnover, and wages to turnover ratio.

United continue to reap the rewards of good planning and management in the 90's and 00's, whereas you can see how much Liverpool, for example, are playing catch up.

QPR's 195% is an absolute joke.

City are doing some creative accounting, unless they've a couple of hundred million fans in rural China we've never heard of

    400m for naming the stadium.

    Arsenal got 150m

    seems legit.

I am talking about the higher the wages the higher the league position. I didn't mention turnover.

They also reap the benefits of rigging the setup of the Champions League to ensure that the bulk of the TV and prize money for Europe goes to them and the other mega-clubs on the continent.

    lol what?

They rigged it so that clubs that are in it get the money from it?

Or do you mean the disbandment of G14?

The move to three clubs and then four clubs in the Champions League was driven by Manchester United and a handful of other clubs with a view to swallowing up all of the available money and cement themselves as the only teams in each league to be able to compete for the top players.

Don't worry about that. The Italians co-efficient is improving and there is a good chance that they could overtake the Premier League next year iirc, leaving the PL with 3 clubs entering the CL.

    Now THAT would be fun:)

I do not think that these numbers arr correct. Where are you getting them from?

United have only ever benefitted from there being 4 teams in it once. They may benefit from it again this year.

If anything, that move did not benefit them and kept the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal relevant, whilst giving start-up petro-teams a footing at the beginning of their project.

That would take all four English clubs being knocked out early again next season, and all three Italian clubs making it to the last 8.

    Possible? Absolutely. Likely? Not very.

    he got them here
The wages costs and profits or losses of all top-flight clubs for 2013/14 have now been confirmed via annual accounts posted at Companies House and overall there is a close correlation between total salary bill and league position, with the current top four in the Premier League also the four biggest payers.

Until last season, utd had never finished below 3rd, which only happened 3 times, in those 23 years., it would surely be better for Utd to limit it to the top 2, and face easier teams in the CL, thus making even more money for themselves.
