Do you only use 2.5% of your equity at a time?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,072 ✭✭✭jpboard1

    Yes.

    Yes.

I wonder could you be getting more out your equity. As long as the trades are unrelated, it shouldn't be high risk to have more than one open. Even better if one slightly hedges the other.

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot understand how anyone can hold a trade/position 100 points offside. Surely after 20 points (max) you would know your entry was wrong.

Can someone explain this, as I don't know this strategy.

Its all according what t/f your trading ,and what your target for the trade is,i trade medium term ,anything up to an annual ,but usually sub 6mts.
I've often been multiples of 100 points offside ,but that's fine if your hunting 1000/2000 points .
I'm very busy,i run a company ,I don't have the time/or room in my brain for the noise scalping creates, hence,I trade the way I do, it suites me ,simples:D.

You'll never go broke been cautious :D,I trade 2% usually, per trade ,with anything up to 20 positions open at any 1 time ,short and long, unless their directly correlated ,I don't see the problem .

I don't have much time either, I set the limit order alert, and I might try a few times before % risk is reached. Same but different.

Have not been doing much trading this week, only a few scalps on Dax and Ftse.

Looks like markets are returning to normal service after the blip we had. Usual panic over nothing. I'd say some people did very well out of it.

Can I ask what kind of r:r would you be hoping for in a trade like that?

Sorry, but I don't do hope!

I will have look again if it goes sub 23977.

    How are the fundimentals?

What technicals did you use to enter?

Fundamentals look good in general for pair but can't account for noise.
