Surely that should be given as offside. Ball was clearly for lukaku and he went for the ball.

Lukaku could have been chatting to De Gea on the goal line - if he doesn't interfere he isn't offside

Yep, the definition is tricky but I remember United benefited earlier this season from a similarly generous interpretation. Rooney not being considered offside even though his presence definitely threw the keeper off as he was expecting Rooney to finish.

Lukaku does interfere though in that the ball was to him and he left it, same way a dummy would be an interference. Rooney got out of the way of a shot if I remember correctly. The ball was never out of the keepers sight.

I'd tend to agree, but it doesn't change the fact you play to the whistle.

What's the point in having Falcao and having him come back for the ball all the time. It'd be like playing Aguero or Diego Costa and never giving them the ball in forward positions.
