The Dublin-Kildare game is as good as over.

15 mins gone & a 9 point advantage to Dublin.

Big contrast in atmosphere in these two games, can Kildare keep it under 20 points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

No upset here guys. Poor old Westmeath are probably beginning to grasp the sobering realities of being the next lambs to the slaughter. Kildare are chasing shadows. Like playing professionals

Now you know how the Dublin hurlers feel....

It's going to be a big win here and the forwards will get the plaudits, but Philly McMahon and Johnny Cooper have been immense, especially Cooper.

Traditional litany of simply wides from Kildare at least the would be somewhat in touch if they had taken a few of them. Always so frustrating to watch.

The top 7/8 teams are miles ahead of the second tier teams. Two or three tier championships needed.

Smooth stuff by Barry Gary White to make that Kildare point

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

    13pt margin at half time.

The money imbalance in Leinster really shows, its becoming ridiculous.

Kildare are woeful. This could be 20 points plus.

Wouldnt consider Dublin to have a bad hurling team to be honest. Certainly not a team to be underestimated but playing well below their capablilities at the moment. Cunningham is probably too radical a change from Dalys style. Personally i think they should have went for Donal O'Grady at the time who is one of the top two coaches in Ireland just under the great man from Kilkenny

No such fear for the footballers though. The opening titles of the Sunday game had a Kildare girl bawling her eyes out after the game in 2011 where Kildare last ran Dublin close. She may have knew something that we didnt at the time :pac: :D.

Kildare have been woeful since Johnny Doyle retired.

Would a best of the rest in leinster team beat Dublin at this stage?

Definitely be smoother if Barry was playing.

In all honesty though would it kill teams to actually make it more difficult for Cluxton to be able to take the short kick outs time and again? Actually make him go long for a change? The financial thing is a factor long term but Kerry, Donegal and Mayo dont have the same finances as Dublin and you wont see them feeling sorry for themselves.

No.I'd say that would be a comfortable win for Dublin as well.

Dublin are just an unbelievably good team and 90% of teams would get a hiding from them.Even Monaghan who are probably the 5th or 6th best team in the country now were destroyed by Dublin last year and in my honest opinion I think Dublin would have destroyed Kerry in the all ireland last year if Donegal hadn't beaten them.

The other 11 counties in Leinster still wouldn't have as big a population or the money to compete with the "Blue Juggernaut/Tsunami".

    Have a bit of perspective.

Terrific footballer. Did they ever catch the scrote responsible for that horrific knife attack Cooper was subject to?

Gary White elbowed Flynn in the face 3 or 4 times there..no wonder Flynn reacted.

Ah sure the leinster final will be a day out for the westmeath supporters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

What passes for tackling these days is a joke. Lads just throwing fists in left right and centre.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,895 ✭✭✭Poor_old_gill

Hilarious irony there to Smalls injury- he tried to tackle a guy late and did his own shoulder!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

Plan B. Get your opponent sent off.

Put Dublin in the Ulster championship and move cavan or monaghan into the leinster championship. There's no other leinster team able to compete with Dublin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

Kildare getting scrappy now, sense the ref is up for a bit of dub bashing

Game is a farce now. ****ty off the ball stuff from both sides. Can't just blame Kildare.

this should have been the first game!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

    Give them all yellows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,895 ✭✭✭Poor_old_gill

The 2 yellows rule is one I give out about every week ands it's the same again.

I enjoy a bit of dubs bashing as much as the next man but Kilkenny and Connollys yellows were farcical. I also think Gary whites was too

Interesting ref. Anything happens he just yellows both players!!

No one will beat the jacks this year

Even when the dubs are winnin they can tresist some on the field cuddling. So cute

Bull. We thought the same last year and they came unstuck in spectacular fashion against Donegal. Very little between the top four teams. You cant compare Kildare to Kerry.

Dont mouth off to Connolly, he'll send you the wrong way.

Have seen enough here to doubt Dublin's chances of winning the All Ireland this year. The lack of competition in Leinster will continue to hurt them. You can still see periods where the Dubs switch off slightly which is natural when winning by 15 points. However, when playing at the end of the summer, you simply wont get to walk through teams like Kildare today. And there is space being left at the back due to a lack of intensity. The Dubs best chance of the All Ireland is if they get a tough quarter final draw. They come through that and it might help them. The huge squad can also be a hindrance as the 15 that will need to go to the wire later this year hasnt as much game time together at high intensity as the other teams. Bernard is having fun today, he wont be able to breathe against the likes of Donegal

If Dublin had to play Donegal or Monaghan in Championship in a packed Clones it could be a whole different story.

If this game against was played on the moon it wouldnt make much of a difference ill admit

Then why not move Kilkenny to Munster championship in Hurling???

And while we're at it, let move Barcelona to the english soccer premier league cause I think Stoke city will take them.
We'll move Liverpool to Spain, just for the laugh.

    Not sure about that.

Dublin destroyed Monaghan in a 5 minute burst last year.Once in a blue moon Monaghan might be able to put it up to them but Dublin are just too good and Donegal are the only team in Ulster that I think could compete with them consistently.

It’s been difficult for the Dubs to rise to a game like the one today, even though they have obvious class. And Kildare didn’t want to play, all they wanted to do was foul and be cynical; then it’d be two yellows given. Good luck to them in Div 3 next yr.
We should appreciate the quality that the Dubs have. Let's see where they go next.

But you're ignoring part of his point ie game would be in Clones. Monaghan would find it far easier to restrict the space in Clones as opposed to the open spaces in Croker.

I suppose my point is that you cant just flick a switch in September and turn it on. The Dubs have class and Connolly is brilliant to watch but they get zero test until at least August and then have to flick the switch. That is a problem in my opinion

I say the likes of Donegal so you can insert any of the top teams in there. Donegal in September are a different animal to the Donegal in the league.

The pitch in Clones is 142*87 metres. TheThe pitch in Croke park is 145.5*88 metres.

There is barely any difference in the size of the pitch and it would make zero difference.

Brolly calls Dublin v Derry league game "the death of football" yet this 19 point hammering was a joy to watch..

    WOW.
