What is the jobs market like at the moment for Civil Engineers in Canada is it hard to get jobs working in areas like Fort McMurray in Alberta? Is the money good?

I have two mates who landed in Calgary a few weeks back. He's already sorted for an engineering job paying really good money (approx $70k). It really depends on your experience and how well you interview tbh. Do your research and make a short list of the companies you like the look of and then contact them and ask for their HR person.

Not often I agree with Lone Gone here.

A tradesperson can easily earn double that in the oil patch.

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨

He doesn't have a lot of experience yet-this is his 2nd job out of college. He's also working in the city, not the rigs.

Still a shockingly low wage (far too low to be called a salary) for someone who I have assumed from your post is a degree qualified professional Engineer working in Canada....... The guy who makes the tea where I work gets paid more than that. By no stretch of the imagination does $70K pass as good pay in Canada.

What would pass as good pay in Canada?

You should be paid at least the median - Anything less and you're doing a Mickey Mouse job for peanuts..

Ha, maybe in Alberta-in Ontario that's a lot for a jr engineer. And it's certainly far more than he was on in Ireland (it was around 30k euro, first gig out of college).

And maybe the moon is made from cheese ? ?

Just to make you aware: Alberta is not in Ontario. Alberta and Ontario are completely different provinces.

What could a fire engineer with 3 years experience expect in Toronto?
