Very foggy up there this afternoon. I happened to be on the Stobart flight from Bristol (same plane which came directly from Leeds after the Manchester flight was cancelled), and couldn't see the ground until seconds before touchdown.

Surprised we were given clearance at all.

If the RVR's were above minima (300m for CAT II ILS) then there shouldn't be a problem!

Corks summer figures look very healthy to Providence especially August.

Expected drop in September, when was frequency reduced?

Frequency only reduced in November. Note less severe drops in Dublin and Shannon also.

Overall Cork still recording more Pax per flight than Shannon, despite load restrictions and not too far behind Dublin. Oct, Nov and Dec numbers will be a good indication of the future of the route.

Well Cork does have 3 flights compared to Shannon's 2 flights per week, although that's nothing to do with my original point.

Also, not far behind Dublin? Yet has less than half the numbers in September.

Does the 737 MAX have load restrictions from Cork? If not, then there'd be a good chunk of September without load restrictions.

Per flight there isn't a huge load difference. Dublin is 5 times per week compared to 3 in Cork

Cork-PVD outperformed Shannon-Stewart with the same number of flights, an unbelievable stat considering Stewart has been a far more attractive airport than Providence for consumers in Dublin, Belfast and Shannon.

I'm afraid Shannon-Stewart is also 2pw, however will be going to 3pw next year.

If anything, Shannon-Stewart is performing very well.

Very hard to guage anyway, plus a few months more of data wouldn't do any harm.

I would imagine ORK-PVD would have stricter weight restrictions going beyond summer due to stronger winds over the Atlantic. No idea how this works out number wise tho.

I was under the impression that the weight restrictions were exclusive to the 737-800. Anyone have more info on this?

Munich not bookable beyond the end of March on Aer Lingus website.

Has it been confirmed as axed anywhere?

Given its once a week its not much of a loss but surely you'd think at least one of the German cities would be viable ex Cork especially given that Paris and Amsterdam both have decent frequency flights and LHR manages 4/5 daily.

They are still using the 737-800 now and then out of Cork. That was mainly on the September side of things and shouldn't happen any more given the further 38M deliveries.

As an aside, for most of the winter up to Xmas besides the period around Thanksgiving the loads were likely low enough that it wouldn't matter. I'd be interested as to how loadings are at the minute between Xmas itself and people taking breaks whilst off. D81821 seemed fairly popular with 18-25 year olds and a lot of them are off college at the minute so could be good for loads.

I think Frankfurt would be a sustainable destination from Cork if Lufthansa operated the flight or at least had a code share with Aer lingus . The destination list from Frankfurt is endless and all the major cities in western Germany are easily reachable by train . The Munich flight will be no loss .

Agree with frankfurt. As a hub surprised its not served.
Wondering when the new routes for 2018 will be announced.one thing that bugs me about cork as now is the time a lot of people start planning holiday but often new routes arent announced till spring time

    Munich is gone yes.

I don't think FRA will come about, especially since SNN have a summer service and Kerry has a very successful year round service to Hahn.

Frankfurt is 1 per week with LH? The Hahn service to Kerry is mainly inbound tourism and lesser so Kerry people heading there.

I'm saying that Frankfurt would be useful for business and connections. The tourism side of it can be taken care of by Kerry and to a lesser extent, Shannon

"The daily flight during this year’s summer season will not only link Cork to France, but also connect passengers from the south of Ireland to Air France’s extensive network of over 180 destinations worldwide via the international hub of Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

The new service will bring an additional 33,750 available seats, commencing May 26, 2018 and running through to October 27, 2018. "

Wow, massive gain for Corks connectivity!

Can't see the EI service staying at same frequency though!

I spoke too soon! I'm surprised that Air France stepped in as opposed to KLM

I suppose Aer Lingus don't have connectivity with AF, but do with KLM, perhaps it was seen as the better option for now?

I'd be very surprised if EI maintain daily frequency next summer. Regardless though some very good news, one of the best announcements in a few years, a daily flight is valuable.
