Air France Cdg flights cancelled today too...

Their down an aircraft(HOP are anyway), there's routes cancelled every day. That's the second day cork has been affected.
As far as I know all passengers were given the option of being re routed to their final destination. Probably thru LHR or AMS, maybe even CDG with Aer Lingus.

Lots of people being rerouted through Amsterdam.

The fact that Bergamo prices are in there for July and August, does that mean there will be no June or other months in 2019?

Still not a great sign... Was all positive up to a few days ago.

The flights vary from almost full to being overbooked so I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably more a scheduling issue or with the flights with the same plane before or after cork.
There's a good chance it's happening every day to other routes.

Not sure if this was already posted but an interesting article about an untapped route to Brussels from Cork

Cork to barcalona isn’t out yet, Alicante is available. Strange given that all the other Irish airports have their barcalona flights bookable for next summer!

Oh well! Hopefully it’s not gone but all the new announcements are great! Wonder if we will see any more from Aer Lingus. I can see where cork airport we’re getting the massive seat boost from now

You can definitely book Cork to Barcelona on Aer Lingus for 2019. I thought you were referring to Ryanair - Girona and Reus not yet bookable.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,685 ✭✭✭SleetAndSnow

Ah yeah that is Aer Lingus. was referring to Barcalona Reus with Ryanair. It’s about 222 from knock but that’s 3 hours away, SNN over 300 return so will be interesting to see what they charge in Cork. Last airport to have the routes announced!

Fantastic news. That route is doing very well - nice to see an airline like Swiss try out Cork and get rewarded.

Well done to Cork Airport on recent routes... ticking nicely along with a range on new routes. Their marketing team should get recognition on this and well done to Neil the boss for steering the ship.

Didn't poach any routes from the West coast airports and what's good for Cork is good for the Southwest in general

Cork seems to be gone from the Volotea website. It'd be a pity if the Cork - Verona route was dropped.

Cork to Italy is very badly served, and surely there is huge demand.

Route finished up for the season yesterday. 2019 schedules probably haven’t been loaded yet so that’s probably why it’s disappeared

    Fingers crossed.

Just that when you look at the Route Map on the Volotea website there is no mention of Cork at all.

It’s the same with Helvetic when they end for the winter up in the airport I shall not name. Reappears when the summer schedules are loaded. Wouldn’t worry too much.

Great to see flights to Gander, Newfoundland enjoy 2000% year on year growth :D

It's interesting to see the swing in numbers between Amsterdam and Paris since the AF route was launched.

Price wise the options available from AF when connecting from CDG are very tempting, or at the very least presented well enough to make them look like good value.

Plus, if you don't mind spending a night near Gare du Nord and hoping on an early RER, there's some great value to be had if flying out of Orly on the South side of the city.

Its on the Topflight web site for 2019, I was just looking at it to day.

Thanks for posting the data. A few things stick out for me:

    1. The Amsterdam route is clearly taking a hit from AF pax connecting via CDG. This corresponds with recent flights I've taken to Amsterdam - less busy than usual.

    2. Many of the English provincial cities served by Aer Lingus Regional have taken a hit by up to 10% drop in passenger numbers. Yet the one city that is cut is the one that had a slight growth - Newcastle? It only had two flights a week but it seems like an odd decision on Aer Lingus part.

    3. Bordeaux and Carcassone look very healthy for a return next year.

    1. The Amsterdam route has been dropping in the year on year monthly comparisons since Aerlingus decreased frequency, long before AirFrance came in. Amsterdam seemed busy every time I’ve got it this year, the reduced frequency has been a big hit. To me it seems like Heathrow has been the most affected, growth abruptly stopped the moment AirFrance came in after three or so years of consistent increases.

    2. For those more marginal UK routes I’d be looking at the overall numbers rather than the persentage change, at least on the month over month numbers.

I've never been to Carcassonne, but have been to and from Bordeaux a few times and I'd be pretty surprised if it didn't return, especially as Ryanair are expanding their operations from there:

    https://corporate.ryanair.com/news/ryanair-to-open-2-new-french-bases-at-bordeaux-marseille/

There's no mention of the Cork route, but they are launching a new Dublin flight running on Thursday and Sunday, whereas Cork has been Monday and Friday.

Ryanair flights leave from a separate no frills terminal dedicated to low cost carriers called Billi and when I say no frills, I mean absolutely no frills.

If it wasn't scheduled for demolition, it would be interesting if Cork had the foresight to turn the disused old terminal into something similar.

Imagine where they would be if they weren't saddled with the terminal debt
