switching mortgage query

Hi I went into arrears two years ago for a few months before getting sorted and clearing the arrears. I have had no problems since but was thinking of switching mortgages for a cheaper rate. Can anyone tell me if a new lender will entertain me or is it just going to be a case of assessing me on my present ability to pay.
