So they each got about 1% of the population?

Red Rock had 153,000 for the death of McKay. This is an excellent result for the show. I would be surprised if it is not the top show on TV3 that week.

However if your PR goes around stating that an average of 192,000 viewers per episode. You get this report

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/television/red-rocks-murder-shocker-pulls-only-153000-viewers-34330304.html

I think when they did announce the 192,000 viewers per episode, I said this was incorrect and iseegirls said they must mean across repeats, 3E, +1 and Player, which is a fair analysis.

Yep looks like a good rating for the show. Hopefully medialive will have the figures for the week on Tuesday.

It's especially good as the programmes surrounding it have been bad. Repeating Christmas Lights for the umpteenth time before hand wouldn't have given it much of a lead in.

Their January line up doesn't look like much is happening either. Looks like they've been too busy concentrating on the world cup, then to produce any new shows. Maybe they were waiting around for UPC/Virgin deal to go through before committing to anything.

Repeating Ant & Dec Takeaway tonight though is ridiculous. It's the series from 2 years ago, and they must have showed it around 6 times already. Looks like they'll do what they did last year and have maybe Series 10 (the one from 3 years ago I think) running at the same time as the new series on UTV Ireland in Feb to confuse viewers. They really should be looking to getting a different entertainment series, and not be relying on these repeats in their battle with Utv ireland.

Didn't really understand why TV3 repeated their toy show on Christmas Day, while UTV repeated Daniel's B&B! I honestly don't think they really know what they are doing.

Rebellion had 618,700 (of which 526,800 were Live). Not sure if that figure includes +1.

    15% not watching live TV?

    Update +1 had 45,000
    with 9,000 on the Player
15% must just be those that recorded the programme.

First episode of Charlie had 725k, albeit with a similar audience share. On reflection, those were massive ratings.

It was a big night for TV drama, and there would be a natural overlap between viewers interested in Rebellion and War and Peace on the Beeb - but only the RTE programme could be viewed easily on a Player.

RTÉ should have aired War and Peace after Rebellion. If they hold the rights.

2 good moves from RTÉ, AFAIK simucast of Sherlock and starting The Good Wife early (though just outside of primetime).

I'm confused. That's showing Rebellion having audience of 500k with share of 15%? I didn't think the 620k figure was consolidated.

Not sure about these figures when you look at RTÉ press release on Rebellion. Adults over 15 are medialive figures.

RTÉ ONE's Rebellion has been reported on already, but over all its the same old same old with the channel. A repeat of Christmas Day's Mrs. Brown's Boys secured 321,000 viewers with the New Year's Day Special getting 490,000.

Unfortunately I expect that RTÉ will announce a new season of The Sandy Kelly Show as the rise of Country and Western music continues, The Nathan Carter Show got 457,000 viewers, something Ray D'Arcy would love to get with his return getting just 355,000 viewers.

NYE Live had 345,000 viewers tuning to the channel. The return of Mike Murphy saw his quiz show Play It By Year having 336,000 viewers on Tuesday night and 297,000 viewers on Monday night. I now fully expect the return of Sandy Kelly.

Reeling in the Years continues to be repeated with 381,000 viewers turning to the channel.

RTÉ2 aired mainly Graphic Novel films over the christmas and New Year period, 3 topping The Dark Knight Rises, Iron Man 3, Avengers Assemble (Top 3) and Superman all getting into the top 20. All together 8 films took the top 20.

Sherlock on the channel got 60,000 viewers a simulcast of BBC AFAIK?

Rubberbandits guide to 1916 had 61,000 viewers.

On to TV3 which saw Ant & Dec get its top spot with 149,000 viewers, good news for UTV Ireland.

Brendan Grace and Daniel O'Donnell got into TV3 top 3 with 136,000 and 129,000 viewers, honestly if Sandy Kelly doesn't get a new show its just not fair.

Red Rock had 102,000 viewers (adults) with 90,000 viewers tuning in on Thursday night.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine had just 52,000 viewers.

As usual Coro St and Emmerdale take up the top 11 spots on UTV Ireland from 206,000 to 347,000 viewers. The Shawshank Redemption had 132,000 viewers at 12.

Does ITV havea new BIG QUIZ every year involving Coro St and Emmerdale or is it another repeat of the show from 5 years ago? 124,000 viewers

Kevin Dundon had 102,000 viewers for Monday Night, with Midsommers Murders doing well on Tuesdays at 86,000 viewers

UTV Ireland review of the year had 78,000 viewers on Wednesday night following Coro Street. Duplex at Number 20 had 74,000 viewers.

Now its time for Celeb Big Brother, Sandy Kelly should be in that house.

Yes, Sherlock was a simulcast, as the figures suggest multichannel viewers will have watched on BBC to avoid ads.

Brendan Grace on Christmas Eve 146,000 on Christmas Day 107,000

Strictly Come Dancing Special on St. Stephen's Day 107,000

Man Of Steel had 127,000 on Christmas Day
War Horse St. Stephen's Day 116,000
    Al Porter 87,000

Also its new that RTÉ2 would simulcast the show, I don't think RTÉ2 have simucast anything since Coronation Street. I wonder how well its doing on the Player?

It will be interesting to see if EastEnders starts improving on RTÉ ONE +1 considering the demise of BBC||! (aka BBC THREE)

In disbelief that Ant & Dec still attracts that number for a series that was repeated numerous times on TV3. It's the series from 2 years ago!

RTE will be delighted with the Rebellion figure, might have expected a small dip, but virtually identical to last week.

    RTÉ ONE

Seems up on previous weeks, while its top show is slightly down. Rebellion tops the chart with 497,000 viewers, followed by TLLS, At Your Service, The Voice of Ireland and Fair City.

Their documentary on Clearys had 377,000, with the return of Operation Transformation getting 366,000 on Thursday and 357,000 on Wednesday night.

Ray D'Arcy still getting 377,000 viewers.

    RTÉ2

Saw the return of Grey's Anatomy with 104,000 viewers, but a Documentary on Tsunami had 105,000 followed by Human planet with 102,000 viewers (perhaps RTÉ2 needs to turn back to Documentary). Friends got into 20th place with 50k.

    TV3

Red Rock tops the chart for the first time, I don't think it did so when it started? 125,000 viewers tuned into Thursday Nights episode, with Wednesday Nights episode getting 109,000 viewers. Could this be the turning point for the series? They won't be blaming RTÉ for OT this season?

Ant & Dec had 117,000 getting into 2nd place, down from 1st last week. Celebrity Big Brother ranged from 79,000 to 114,000 taking up 6 of the top 20 places.

Judge Judy continues to bring in audiences with 78,000 and 88,000 on Thursday and Wednesday respectively.

Adoption Stories: Revisited did well with 95,000 viewers considering dismal audiences for the 8:30 slot on TV3 previously.

Vincent Browne continues to do well with his people's debate getting 114,000 viewers.

    UTV Ireland

Emmerdale and Coronation Street take up the top 11 spots with 227,000 to 352,000 viewers.

None of the ITV Dramas have really taken off, with most simulcast over the last few weeks. Jericho, Mr. Selfridge, Beowulf and Endeavour failing to make the top 20.

The Chase retain 70k for Monday, Thursday and Wednesday. Birds of A Feather and Midsomers Murders are the only 2 other scripted programmes from ITV with 79,000 and 111,000 respectively.

You are so right good wildlife and documentaries will bring in viewers and a lot cheaper than some of that tripe it does have on

Expect unusually high audiences for both SNT and The Cube for the next three weeks during Árd Fheis season.

    Dodgy Estimation

TV3 on average has 8.67% outside peak
UTV Ireland has 5.55% outside peak
RTÉ ONE with 16.83 outside peak
While RTÉjr has 1,050 viewer on average in peak, you think they'd give them a soundtrack! (Suppose its the last hour, 6,000 or so viewers between 6 and 7).

In fairness frozen plant and human plant (which were shown at xmas)are exceptionally highly rated series which only have 10ish episode runs. You can't really compare them to your average run of the mill documentary. And on cost I'd say that they would've been very pricey in comparison to a generic drama, I doubt they'd be cheaper.

They are part of a package deal with BBC worldwide and AFAIK are cheaper to buy in than generic drama.

RTÉ/TV3/UTV/TG4 aren't spending any more than 2000 on an hour of imports.
