That is cheap can see why they are fond of them verses an hour of home produced programs.

According to Anna Daly .... She of Ireland AM fame.... Saturday and Sunday AM are above expectations reaching 139,000 ..... Unfortunately no mention of average audience :( but she is delighted!

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/columnists/paul-rouse/go-figure-how-the-gaas-sky-numbers-really-stack-up-377396.html

So I am against the GAA selling rights to Sky Sports, but in saying that you have to remember that Sky Sports aren't all that worried about audience levels, as its main business is in Subscriptions and Sky viewed the buying of GAA to retain Irish Customers, I honestly don't think they even thought about their British customers when buying GAA. (Also many subscribers to sports channels would have had to had 2 subscriptions for Premier Sports in Britain, though in saying that many will need 2 under the current rights deals with Sky and BT). I digress. The article gives us some insight.

17 June 2015 ‘Oireachtas Report’ RTÉ One 44,400
    14 Jan 2016 ‘Judge Judy’ TV3 39,600

It will be interesting to see if ITV will go after these rights as they will have access to both North and South of the boarder.

Another drop, though much smaller, for Rebellion to 378k. The Voice of Ireland and Op Tran remain consistent performers on 474,000 and 410,000 respectively. The only notable RTE Two rating is for Blue Bloods, averaging 95k for its double-bill. CBB is barn-storming for Three, with all episodes into six figures, while Countrywise and Benidorm keep UTV ticking over.

I think one episode of CBB was in the 5 digit range

Irish Time seem to think its outstanding that RTÉ would consider a second series of Rebellion during the War of Independance, not that TV3 should axe Red Rock after its drops over 2015. On Red Rock its keeping its audience will be interesting to see how it does after CBB.

NTAs topped TV3 no complaints they don't show it live, but FFS UTV Ireland does show it!

UTV NI showed it live, not UTV I. Still find it weird though that viewers will watch an awards show 4 days later when results are already out there in the media.

Hard to tell if they mean average across all episodes in December or the top show. Mrs Browns boys my be explained by its high audience on live TV???

    Celebrity Big Brother.

So in with the tabloid crowd with CBB!

So on to Xpose and The Pulse (Don't ask!)

Xpose Friday Night Episode had 61,700 viewers
The Pulse had a woping 93,000 viewers

The works out at 5.37% share for TV3 and a 6.64% share of the audience.

This are significant figures because % are out of 100, and regardless of the number of viwers watching at 6pm v 8pm UTV Ireland win both in terms of the number of viewers and also the % of viewers. So comparing an actual figure with a % is kind of like comparing .... apples and oranges.

Should either channel be happy with these viewing figures? Answer absolutely not, they are dreadful figures and warring over who's getting the apple v the oranges is about as pointless as a crossover episode of The Pulse and Xpose.

UTV Ireland's decision on producing The Pulse is daft. The series is actually down from other series in that time slot.

    Xpose is just daft.

Have to take into consideration the different type of lead ins that the two programmes get. Compared to Rare Breed, Daniel O'Donnell etc.. The Pulse is not doing a great job in retaining audiences from the the lead in of Coronation Street.

Red Rock was up for TV3, its gaining ground, it will be interesting to see how it does without CBB, but TV3 must be happy for the show over the last few weeks. (137,000 and 124,000)

But as pointed out a repeat of Ant and Dec still top TV3's top twenty with 151,000 viewers !!!!

UTV Ireland's ITV drama's are still struggling with Midsomers Murders, Vera and Benidorm the only ones to take off this week.

As pointed out The Pulse and Xpose are doing dreadfully.

The X Files had 120,000 and 101,000 for the revival show on RTÉ Two. Though the 3rd episode was the best TBH.

RTÉ2 will return with Sport, 4% audience in Jan without it, to the top this month. TV3 must be counting the money.
TV3 however seem to be content with 7%, I imagine that they are spreading their programmes thinly, A raft of new Irish shows this month long with UEFA will help retain their 7% as will the final of CBB which had 133,000 viewers.
The Pulse has gone from UTV Ireland's top twenty, between Coronation Street, while an Insight special does it for them on Thrusday night, FFS News at 8 UTV Ireland!

TV3: 430,000 for leaders debate and 224,000 for tonight show after.

Will be interesting to see how Red Rock did.

Great figures. That may be their highest rated show for the year. Can't think of anything coming up that could top it.

Looks bleak. They really need to get their hands back on GAA next year. Surprised they didn't make much of an effort to get the upcoming ROI friendlies in the Aviva too. Wonder has there been any movement with RTE trying to flog a few matches from Euro2016.

Regarding programming, not much in the autumn schedule that would suggest anything huge coming up. Maybe when they start gogglebox it may start high. Don't understand why it's taking so long though. Ppl may be fed up of the whole premise of the programme by time they eventually produce it.

Re GAA, the annual Congress may well give TV3 a lifeline - motions have been allowed to be tabled whereby TV contracts would have to be FTA, leaving only TV3, TG4 or UTV Ireland to provide competition.

I think TV3 strategy is to hold level at 7-8%

They've really done nothing to suggest they want to grow their audience. Seems to be if we get more we get more.

TV3, RTÉ2 and UTV Ireland each have had major Opportunities to over haul their schedules over the last year. None have done anything different and all have largely stagnated.

I mean RTÉ should have known that 2 would be down very low in Janurary, but they did little to improve the channel.

TV3 in fairness to them are using events, like big brother, to retain their audience, I wonder if the total audience of TV3 and 3e would be much different if CBB had aired on 3e? I'd say TV3 would have retain 6% and 3e might have reached 4% but still TV3 would have continue to try to retain their audience by not changing the schedule.

Lynda McQuades attitude is strange. Ireland's Got Talent is too parochial for Ireland, but at the same time continues with The Seven O'Clock Show.

And UTV Ireland is a mess very rigidly simulcasting lifestyle and daytime from ITV. And The Pulse is a failure.
