    No Irish times stating today that be3 had 2.6% with TV3 having a 26% rise ~ 9%.

Surprised by the good showing for be3 with 3e gaining 57% ~ 3.8%

    Total ~ 16%????

I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of tv3s mouth, this is same organization who said 3 yrs ago that they didn't want the itv soaps anymore anyway because they are lose making

It is bizzare how the media are taking the talking up from TV3. TV3, UTV Ireland, 3e and TV3+1 look like altogether they will be down 10%. Which in fairness isn't bad considering.

I am surprised at how well CBB is doing, over the last 2 years I would never have considered it as something that could help TV3, particularly has neither 3e or TV3 saw increases with it, was it the Jedward Factor?

be3 is a suprise with 2.67%, I wonder the first few days of they year helped as UTV Ireland.

TV3 should be most disappointed with the main channel failing to reach 10%.

Overall TV3 is down 4% from Dec, and slightly up from January last year.

RTÉ2 is a mess with just 4.6% if it was in anyway public service in nature it could attempt to point to its output, and with cuts for Children's programming well RTÉ2 doesn't have a leg to stand on.

RTÉ ONE clearly has a successful TV show on its hands with DWTS, 10% up from Dec and 1.6% from last year.

    Interesting quote too:

"As exclusive home to ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in January, 3e grew its share of viewing in the month by 53% from 2.53% to 3.88% and outperformed RTÉ 2 share of viewing for under 45’s on 16 out of 31 days in January."

Very good for 3e, however they aren't going to capitalize on it with zero new shows in February. Repeats of Celeb Juice, Embarrassing Bodies and films showed numerous times already won't help.

It does seem that tv3 is the darling of the media these days. not a negative spin on anything.

Sounds like the sales tag line 'Up to 70% off' which turns out to be just a few items are offered with 20% off but most are not reduced at all. If your audience goes from 1% to 1.5%, you have a 50% rise in audience on a poll with a error of 2% to 3%. So what does that mean? Nothing. 3E has a small audience no matter what they say.

    Who falls for this stuff?

I really think that Xpose is bring Coro St down while Coro St brings Xpose up. Interesting to see UTV Ireland's Rare Bread do well on TV3 particularly on a Tuesday Night at 7:30.

Medialive have monthly figures for 3e and be3

    Avg CBB is 71,000
Tipping point tops chart with 81,000
    and number 20 with 34,000
    Racing had 42,000 on NYD

    The chase had 61,000
    the restaurant having 29,000

    5:30 news had 135,000

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,014 ✭✭✭iseegirls

Great to have figures for the two channels.

The figures for Tipping Point on 3e are very good. Now I understand why they showed so many episodes over Christmas. It's a hugely popular show.

No sign of Judge Rinder or Jeremy Kyle though.

Be3 right to keep The Chase at 6pm. Primetime imports shows like Bull and Wentworth nowhere to be seen though. Could see them being moved soon.

I said it before but I think Coro St numbers are down on both Monday and Friday night. Monday not as much as Friday. It could just be a case of waning popularity. Xpose is not in the top twenty but all other shows are up, Along with a extra ep of Coro St on Thursday.

Red Rock Continues to get around 130,000 viewers with the following 10pm programming getting under 107,000 viewers.

Masterchef didn't make the top 20, I guess it will be drop for a second series, with a big question mark over Masterchef proper, anyone know if the production took placed over the last few months?

New TV3 shows have helped but not much in terms of growth from last year: -

PK Tonight - 135,000 (with the political landscape also helping VB Tonight, or is that Tonight VB?)
    The Cube - 119,000
    Gogglebox - 116,000

The Voice UK drop slightly to 117,000 viewers, while Champions League had 176,000 viewers compared to 217,000 viewers on RTÉ2, however RTÉ2's figure is broken into LIVE, BUILD UP AND POST.

First Dates continues with 169,000 viewers, but with no 6 Nations RTE2 falls back to its normal audiences. Home and Away had 96,000 viewers in 5th place, with 65,000 viewers in 17th.

RTE ONE repeat on 2 Follow Donal had 74,000 viewers. Docs on 2 had 73,000 viewers for Skinholes and 73,000 viewers for The Natural World.

Against the Head had 73,000 viewers. New US programmes:

    Homeland - 72,000
    Grey's - 67,000
    This is US - 65,000

Much talk on Digital Spy about soap ratings falling off a cliff in recent years - general consensus seems to be a mixture of competition from online platforms, people recording to watch later, and that the soaps themselves have become increasingly monotonous/unadventurous.

Also I think Coro St and Emmers having 6 eps per week, way too many. And the fact in the last 15 years their is little difference between the soaps. Coro St only feature now is the street and the Rovers. Some of the scenes could be part of either Emmers or EastEnders. Emmers became far to Urban for the Rural soap it once was.

However I think Xpose could also be effecting Coro Street. Its audience has increase while Coro St has fallen, I think this is outside the normal soap opera decline.

The soaps should really only be on around 3 times a week, back to the late 90's.

It's just that ITV have little decent programmes to replace them with it, so it's easier for them to just order more episodes of the soaps. Long gone are the days when Strike It Lucky, Play Your Cards Right, The Krypton Factor used to be great viewing around 7 and 7.30pm.

The movement of Corrie switching channels so much over the past 2 years may have annoyed viewers.

Feel like if you went away on holidays for 2 week, you'd then have about 6 hours of Emmerdale to catch up on, along with 5 hours for Corrie to catch up on. It's just too much. People are losing interest.

Red Rock is most likely to be axed should it take a break during the summer. TV3 seemed not to have planned in advance the break before Christmas. If they have just finished 2016 they have enough to run through the summer months, but I think they will opt to take a summer break, and extend the run until this time next year. This is one option for TV3, it leaves them with room to consider recommissioning the series, it could be saved due to the bad audiences for Masterchef. Certainly we won't know until they apply for BAI funding.

There will be scenes surrounding Christmas on next weeks Red Rock. The break from November to January was definitely unplanned, and probably taken when they realised that Coronation Street will be back in January - and hoping to utilize the viewers from it.

Still is silly though to have the shows timeline completely out of line now.

They saw Coro St Return in Dec, surely Xmas episodes of all soaps would have suited TV3. I'd say a decision has been slightly made about the show, I consider it axed if it goes on a break from May to Sept, with a slight chance of a reprieve.

Good week for TV3 but it just shows how insane UTV Ireland where not to move the 6:30 news to 8pm when Xpose is getting 140,000 viewers on Monday Night. Though there is a certain insanity at TV3 to want to put Red Rock on at 9pm. Though Red Rock has seen growth this year to 145,000 viewers this week, just missing out on beating an episode of Emmerdale. Overall this week has performed better for TV3. Ant and Dec returned with 144,000. Gogglebox is slightly down with 109,000 viewers, however The Voice UK has failed to take off with 116,000 viewers. I'd expect TV3 to see a return to 11% however the caveat on that prediction is The Six O'Clock Show and Coro Streets falling audiences.

RTE2 will miss Six Nations in 2018. With 10 of this weeks top 30 all on TV3 this time next year.

The Voice has hit the battle stages, so the blind auditions are over. Normally at this stage the ratings drop, but it's still a decent rating.

Room To Improve top of the charts on RTE1. Just shows how popular it is. Only one episode left this weekend though. :(

RTE2s ratings are so messy, including post and pre match for the rugby and CL. It prob covers up the low ratings that other programmes are getting.
