Big jump for TV3 over the last month. TG4 also on the rise lately, must be the minor matches and ladies football.

Really TV3 is flatlining when you consider their 3 extra channels. Seems when TV3 gain both 3e and be3 fall back, while when they gain TV3 falls back. With IGT TV3 will hope to gain and have both be3 and 3e retain.

Sept with beginning of new season, I think both RTÉ and TV3 may fall back in October.

This is the dumbest overreaction since the time all the pork was withdrawn

RTE One going for News Special from 13:40-16:30 now.

Not sure if it's an over-reaction. I'm sure there are plenty glued to Twitter, Facebook, Journal, boards etc monitoring events of the biggest storm we've had in 60+ years.

TV3 News had 106,000 viewers interest to see if this is due to its new look. News At 10 drop out of be3 top programmes under 21,000 viewers.

Channel 4's Irish Opt-Out channel had 28,000 viewers for GBBO.

Today with Daithi and Maura was the only programme in the daytime schedule that aired - all other programmes bar news bulletins were replaced with RTE News Specials or RTE News Now (itself simulcasting Radio 1).

As iseegirls suggested Blind Date is down at 152,000 this week. XFactor remains at 182,000 and 178,000 viewers, with ITV drama Liar getting 105,000 viewers following its airing on ITV on Monday Night.

RTÉ2 docs Trauma (120,000) and Vogue (65,000). Not sure if it is a new season of First Dates with 70,000 viewers. A repeat of This Wild Life had 60,000, it must have been repeats a 1000 times at this stage.

Room To Improve repeat on Sunday had 258,000 viewers.

It will be interesting to see how figures are next week as 100,000 remain without power.

Looking at RTE One would I be right in thinking it is down across the board in comparison to same time last year

Yes, even on poor weeks, TLLS is down a good 50-75k from last season.

When you continue to repeat programming into October and they are part of your most watched shows for the week their is a problem. How many times can they repeat Room To Improve? and At Your Service?

This is where the proposed RTE3 would have been a good addition to Saorview. RTE could have shoved all repeats with some classic home grown content on to RTE3 and kept all new homemade and bought in content on RTE ONE and TWO.

They have no clue, 45% of RTÉ2's programming are repeats with 20% on RTÉ ONE. Now lets face it we all notice repeats of Channel 4 and BBC ONE, 12% and 4% receptively. Audiences are not stupid, also it seems as if RTÉ don't know which episodes of programmes they have repeated with RTÉ repeating ones that have just been repeated a month or 2 earlier.

I don't think this would have solved the problem. RTÉ don't like showing new bought in programmes in prime time, many would have featured on the RTÉ PLUS/3 schedule rather than either ONE or 2, with PLUS/3 taking on clashing sports and classic RTÉ TV series.

If RTE don't like showing bought in content durning prime time hours when most people are settling down to watch tv especially durning the Winter months how do they expect to compete with TV3,TG4 and all the Brittish national channels beamed In to this country by Sky and cable companies?

They were caught complete off guard because they do not know what they are doing.

RTÉ ONE's Summer Time audience was down significantly in 2015, this was slightly problematic for 2015's Autumn where it took RTÉ ONE a good 3 months to deleiver 20% share of the audience. 2016 wasn't bad for RTÉ ONE, New Year had drama and reality, but also 1916 coverage all boosting audiences, Summer 2016 saw RTÉ ONE take over GAA coverage meaning coming into the autumn months their audiences were pretty even from the start of 2016. And then in 2017 they had the success of DWTS. This held the audience until the Summer and RTÉ ONE faired far better in 2017 to 2015 because of this success. However Audience were still below 20% mean RTÉ ONE for the New autumn season has to climb, but if you look back at 2015 (which is what RTE should be looking at) the up swing doesn't come until December, meaning losses in audiences for RTÉ ONE. RTÉ ONE will see a swing up but I wonder if they will be down overall from 2017 in early 2018.

My guess is RTE will mostly likely gain viewers over the Christmas period especially with the influx of good movies they show over that period. How much of a gain they will make on TV3 and all the other channels I mentioned in my previous post remains to be seen. Since Virgin Media took over the TV3's bouquet of channels I think they have really upped their game regarding news, home produced and bought in content. So it will be interesting to see who gains the most viewership over the Christmas period.

To be honest TV3 haven't really. I agree TV3 have improved vastly and I think largely because of this they have retained audiences from 2015 and 2016 but this is all they have done, retained an audience. TV3 will really be looking to IGT and 6 Nations to see them jump to 20% overall. Certainly both RTÉ and TV3 seem to be looking more at January than Sept to Dec in terms of audience, which is odd considering that advertisers want audiences before Christmas.

My guess is RTÉ will have 25% over Christmas with TV3 having around 16%, I suspect that RTÉ will drop in Oct and Nov, with TV3 increasing in Nov with the return of I'm A Celeb.

When I look at the programmes RTE have shown over the last couple of weeks I must say apart from the excellent dramas like Broken with Sean Bean An Acceptable Risk and Mr. Mercedes with Brendan Gleeson and of course their news coverage leading up to and including the aftermath of Storm Ophelia there hasn't been anything on RTE to show a possible increase in audience figures. I wonder how did they above dramas mentioned fair in the ratings so far?

Not sure how the power outages were considered in these figures. First time entry for Today/a daytime show in the top twenty for RTÉ with 261,000 viewers.

RTÉ2's Vogue, Say Yes To The Dress, Salon Confidential and Trauma ranged from 85,000 viewers to 112,000 viewers. Sport continued to be the main attraction with BEN V MU getting from 97,000 to 243,000, GAA Draw had 122,000 viewers, Cork City V Derry City getting 79,000 viewers. Home and Away had from 64,000 to 106,000 viewers, with Eamon and Bridget getting just 62,000 viewers.

9 of TV3's top 20 got into the top 30 show, Coro St and Emmerdale. X Factor had 172,000 and 169,000 viewers.

Irish shows Blind Date (152,000), Gogglebox (120,000), Blind Date Repeat (113,000) and The Rehab (112,000).

That is one huge rating for The Today Show. The storm definitely had people in watching telly. Although, it may have been nice if some of the channels like 3e went off-kilter and showed something different considering most of the irish people were stuck inside.

Blind Date doing well if you add up the repeat with the first showing.

Ray D'Arcy's rating is getting close to the Late Late Show. unsure whether TLLS is just getting bad, or RDS is getting better. Surely it can't be the latter. :D
