It hard to know what would get viewers as a good number only watch netflix and the odd program on tv. This is mainly young people. With RTE 2 the way it is why would you turn it on.

Technically it should have the minister should have been sought to deem it as a public service as it is on Saorview, and same goes for Sky News addition.

Though Dept say that Sky News is commerical, while VM4 may come under TV3 original license like that of VM2, I wonder if VM3 still is under UTV Ireland license ?

First time I've spotted Shortland Street in the RTE Two ratings - 34k for the Wednesday evening repeat.

Yes, but their audience is massively down over the pass few weeks. 32,000 for number 20. Shortland Street has popped up a number of times since it took the place of Neighbours.

VMTV reported 1.8m for Six Nations

Medialive saw a massive increase in audience for TLLS, due in part to the announcement that Tubs is exiting and it was the St. Patrick's Night Special.

No, they only launched the 4th channel themselves last September but the launch was so low profile not even their own website carried it's listings until Christmas

The coronation may have been cheap filler for RTE on Saturday, but the general public were apathetic, to put it mildly, about the coverage, as it failed to enter RTE One's weekly top 20 (rounded off by Mark Moriarty: Off Duty Chef on 146,000). Nothing spectacular to report, as the Late Late topped the week on 312,000, Kin finished respectably with 277,000, but Angela Scanlan's 177,000 is far from Tommy Tiernan numbers, and 200,000 for Ireland's Smartest is surely below the expectations of Montrose bosses for the series.

The GAA ratings (233,000 for the Munster final, 159,000 for Connacht) show that appetites will only truly be piqued from the QF stage onwards, and the URC doesn't appear to interest the casual sports fan (118,000 for Munster, 94,000 for Leinster). Finally, Virgin Media audiences are slowly dwindling YoY, with neither Corrie nor Emmerdale recording 200,000 for an episode, indeed with some of the latter nearer the 100,000 mark, and I'm A Celebrity South Africa doesn't have the drawing power of the Aussie series, peaking at 114,000 last week.

73,000 adults tuned into This Morning to see the first episode with out Philip, This Morning had appeared a few times in the top twenty of UTV Ireland when it first started broadcasting on Saorview (Terrestrial TV) in 2015. It be interesting to know if it was a once of or if this is the kind of audience seen by TM and just a coincidence as audience number for VMTV ONE are down, with Coro St getting between 144,000 and 173,000 adult viewers and BGT getting just 107,000.

Tubs last Late Late was watched by 497,000 adult viewers, will be interesting to see the consolidated numbers with +1 and the player.

RTÉ2 had sport but it top non-sporting programme (The Living Daylights) had just 57k v 352k for Limerick V Cork Hurling.

The "Player" figures really don't seem to stand up for me.

VMTV are investing 2m on an upgrade (or they have invested).

The report shows that Love Island was the most streamed show on the player and brought in significant increases in audience for the player. However, what about the rest of the year. Back of the envelope stuff puts RTÉ and VMTV player between 80,000 to 150,000 streams a day, this compares to 200,000 viewers for a soap opera on live TV.

The return of Holly Willoby to This Morning had 71,000 +15 viewers.

PAC and the Media Committee had 114k and 102k viewers respectively, on VMTV. RTÉ News and Oireachtas TV are not counted in the TAM ratings.

VMTV's Soaps range from 115k (emmerdale) up to 185k (coro st)

Tonight show getting 80k to 93k for Wed, Mon and Thur, but Tuesday's edition had 113K

RTÉ2 is filled with GAA, its top rated non sporting show had 92k for John Torode's Ireland, 444k for Dublin V Monaghan live pla.

RTÉ ONE's Dairy's Dirty Secret had 327k on Monday night.

Fairy City had between 187k and 212k

EastEnders had 117k on Wed and 129k on Monday, less than 112k on Tue and Thur

A peak audience of 934,000 people tuned in for the first Late Late Show of the season last Friday night.

An average viewership of 830,000 watched on RTÉ One and RTÉ One +1 to see Patrick Kielty begin his stint as the new presenter of the world's longest-running live chatshow.

The programme also received 158,000 streams on RTÉ Player - making it the strongest ever Late Late Show season opener yet on the platform – while social media videos from the show have amassed 7.6 million views to date

Probably as good as can be expected nowadays. Interesting to see what he'll keep longer term

Are there any figures on what is EastEnders getting on RTE ONE these days? A few pundits have commented recently that RTE relaying it is a waste of licence fee money but afaik they get BBC stuff for free? Years ago of course they used to relay a lot more BBC content, such as match of the day. This current season of Mrs Brown's boys is the first time that there not relaying it with the beeb as it clashes with the late late

The BBC move of Eastenders to 7:30pm maybe hasn't helped ratings for both channels. Just judging from last weeks rating, Eastenders only appears once in the Top 20 - Tuesday with 142,000 viewers.

Would dropping it, and replacing it with something home-produced get something more? Looking at programming around it during the week.

What it's clear to see is that RTE One is not taking advantage of that good lead-in that the 7pm shows bring them in.

(Not in the Top 20 would be below 135,000)

    Monday:

    • 7:00 Nationwide 225,000
    • 7:30 Eastenders (not in Top 20)
    • 8:00 Bog Amach (not in Top 20)
    • 8:30 Ar An Sliabh (not in Top 20)

    Tuesday:

    • 7:00 Aistear An Amhrain 174,000
    • 7:30 Eastenders 142,000
    • 8:00 Fair City 207,000
    • 8:30 Food Matters (not in Top 20)

    Wednesday:

    • 7:00 Nationwide 248,000
    • 7:30 Eastenders (not in Top 20)
    • 8:00 Nevin's Irish Seafood Trails (not in Top 20)
    • 8:30 Super Garden 135,00

    Thursday:

    • 7:00 Cheap Irish Homes 256,000
    • 7:30 Eastenders (not in Top 20)
    • 8:00 How To Be Good With Money (not in Top 20)
    • 8:30 Fair City 186,000

EastEnders even it is normal Monday and Friday time slots didn't do great numbers, it would be interesting to see the numbers on BBC1 and RTÉ1 +1, and RTÉ Player number against that of Nationwide.

They should let nationwide go out 5 nights a week, blend it into the Today show, forget about Daytime TV as they are unable to produce it year round.

    7pm Nationwide

7:30 EastEnders (Friday Hour long edition of Nationwide)

    8pm Fair City (Friday Lifestyle)

    8:30 Lifestyle

Either that or move Fair City to 7pm Monday to Thursday

Or you could put Fair City on at 7pm and 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

RTÉ made no effort with the Soap changes.

    Neighbours left, nothing

Eastenders change, nothing until about two months later when the move Fair City to Thursday to Friday Night.

Return of Neighbours, drop shortland street!

Why not move Shortland Street back to 5:30pm. If it was not getting enough viewer why keep it at 6pm so long. They moved Fair city to 8:30 so it would not be on when Emmerdale was on and then moved it to 7:30 on Friday when it was on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,955 ✭✭✭RoTelly

IMO they aren't aware of what they are doing. I don't think any show between 5:30 - 6:30 gets into the top 20 so Shortland street couldn't have being doing much worse than what is currently on at 5:30.
