    Thanks Elmo.

Impressive ratings so far for only a month in. They'll need to build a better array of programmes once it finishes at midday once the world cup ends, to take advantage.

Yeah I'd have said they be at that level by January, they seem to captured the Ireland AM audience. I can't imagine either growing much more. As you say they'll need want to hold on to the audience for later in the day.

TV3's top twenty consists of RWC with the Scotland and Japan giving them 139,000 adult viewers. The only other 2 programmes are from ITV, The X Factor getting 252,000 and a repeat of Downton's Sunday night episode getting 152,000.

No really change for RTÉ ONE bar The Poughing Championships and Ray D'Arcy but neither increase RTÉ ONE audience as it continues to repeat Room to Improve.

Great to see Elementary get into RTÉ2's top twenty. 50,000 viewers for an 11pm slot! Repeats of Fr. Ted will never end.

The Sin Bin though connected to the Rugby World Cup has 140,000 viewers, be interesting to see how other programmes are doing. IMO TV3 really need to have Red Rock in this weeks top twenty, even with RWC its not holding audience.

UTV Ireland see no change, though someone will be happy I have stopped calling it UTVi :D Doc Martin back to over 100,000 viewers. But after Entrepreneur of the Year figures fall back again.

Think they should have placed Red Rock on after the rugby on Thursday at 10pm, instead of The Sin Bin - swapping them around. They moved Red Rock to 3e on Wednesday night, but repeated it on TV3 at 10pm. That may have halved its normal figures on TV3 - but difficult to know.

I noticed that, Red Rock has to air first on TV3, even if that means moving it's original time slot. Coro St would never move to ITV2!

Didn't they move it to 3e?? That probably affected numbers.

That's what we are saying it aired first on 3e in its normal time slot, rather than being moved for the RWC to allow it gain an audience.

As I've said it is likely that TV3 also broke the worst audience record this year!

Those rugby figures are amazing. The interest in this World Cup is by far the largest ever. The ratings for the Italy are greater than all of the 6 Nation matches and there's at least two Irish matches left in the tournament. I think they can assume they will break the one million mark for the France match.

Yes probably considering our 6 Nations win. Also it close proximity to the host nation. And we are winning :)

+ Japan beating South Africa and England's demise - TV3 must be delighted.

Ironically the opposite might also be true (save for RTÉ ONE)

RTE ONE's audience has not increased for its top twenty. Assume Sept gave them 15% as previous months. Clean Break saw a drop for episode 2 with 292,000 adult viewers. Ray D'Arcy also saw a drop due to RWC coverage with over 500,000 adult viewers tuning in to post match analysis. At Your Service and Room to Improve continue repeats!

RTE2 sees repeats and first showings of Reality Bites and Apres Match do well. Champions league on the channel had 229,000 adult viewers. Father Ted remains as repeatable as ever.

Only one non-sporting programme made it into TV3's top twenty with with 237,000 adults watching was XFactor. No sign of Red Rock while Champions League coverage has 215,000 viewers for live Tuesday Nights and Highlights with 128,000 viewers.

Again no real change for UTV Ireland in its top twenty it will be interesting to see if it held on to 6% share for everything outside its top twenty. Repeat of Graham Norton had 59,000 adult viewers. With Doc Martin continuing to see good audiences with 128,000 adult viewers. The move of The Chase seems to have worked out well for them.

*Average of RTÉ ONE +1 and RTÉjr from April to July, from August as ratings count a 24hour day
** Excludes RTÉ News Now as it does not feature in Ratings (Unknown)

Surprised to see TV3+1 not see an increase. Overall better than expected. UTV Ireland remains, RTE2 has GAA at the beginning of the month, TV3's RWC coverage has knock on effect for 3e.

Is there any significant adverse viewership impact on TV3 for not showing Saorview ruby coverage in HD?

I am a Saorview & FTA Sat viewer and watch the Irish rugby games on ITV HD for the better picture quality.

TV3 loose me as a viewer, but maybe I am in the minority and the lack of HD on Saorview is not a considering factor for them - are there any figures available to estimate a potential viewer loss?

Even the SD on ITV4 is much better than the fuzzy vision on TV3.

I have only watched the TV3 coverage when the ITV 4 was screwed up by having the screen over-zoomed (or whatever the fault was) so that the score was not shown.

TV3 is not just SD, it is sub SD.

UTV proper was up slightly in October. You have to realise that many people in Saorview land where used to a bad reception for TV3. It would be interesting to see the audience for UTV's coverage.
