Personally I felt sympathy for her, drugs criminalisation is a disaster and she's just one of its many victims. However I saw no reason to see hers as a special case and I found the implicit racism and sexism of the campaign supporting her to be deeply unsettling.

Bottom line is she and the other one (whose name escapes me but I'm sure there'll be a book and tacky tabloid "news" that you can't get away from to remind me) are grown adults who - like so many other spoiled entitled types - thought they were "special" and tried to pull a scam (and international drug trafficking isn't exactly something you innocently fall into), got caught, and then came up with a whole story that she later admitted was false.

They should serve their time in the country where they committed the crime according to their laws. It shouldn't be up to the (NI/UK) taxpayer to foot the bill for it.

No, I'm just delighted that it looks certain that she'll be returning to Ireland soon. It's really good news for most decent people. Those who wanted to see her suffer and raped in jail over there may not be happy but there's nothing you can do about people like that.

It's really good news for her family and friends certainly. Like I said I feel sympathy but I see no reason to consider hers a special case.

One can only hope they have dropped the pathetic routine "we was duped" routine, hopefully they have managed to feel remorse and realise how vacuous their motives for the crime were.

I was glad they got caught, drug smuggling is a huge issue in Latin America and the last thing people need there is two brainless cretins thinking they can make a quick buck to continue their empty "pretend-model" lifestyle.

A good dose of reality was surely required and has hopefully been administered.

She knew what would happen if she got caught.
