Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ran out of fresh beans beans last week.
Tried the LIDL "Deluxe" Costa Rica Tarrazu 100% Arabica Whole Bean.
Not bad for milk based drinks.
    €4.99 for 500g I think.
    A handy emergency bag.

For comparison sake, I tried the Aldi whole beans before - binned.
Even the missus wouldn't drink that stuff.

lidl beans are just ok. As you say good in an emergency. The Aldi beans are rubbish, God knows how old. I've bean using http://www.ponaire.ie and www.coffeebeans.ie a good while. The Sumatra and Costa Rica blend from ponaire are good but their decaff beans aren't great. The Columbian and Cofesa from Coffeebeans.ie are great and their decaff beans are fantastic.

I'm not so keen on judging beans to be good or bad: it's a matter of taste. That said, I also think Lidl coffees are acceptable to my palate, but I have not particularly enjoyed any that I have got from Aldi.

I tried the Lidl beans a few weeks ago and while passable they were nothing to write home about. Although they are cheap I think Ikea's beans offer a better taste for the same price.

But as for budget beans I've now settled on discountcoffee.ie Temple Bar espresso blend. For €8.16 a kilo the price is fantastic and the taste is surprisingly good. I bought one of their premuim Colombian coffees with my last order for €6.90/227g and while it was ok I didnt see it as value for money. I've a couple of kilos of their Signature blend too which I'm looking forward to opening this weekend.
