Westport or Belmullet for Saturday night out?

Looking at which town is the best for a night out. I heard a good few people saying belmullet is great craic, other say Westport but what is your opinion?

I have never once heard anyone say that Belmullet is great craic for a night out, Westport on the other hand is nearly tailor made for a night out, lots of bars and proper nightclubs, plus it will have far more people out on a saturday night.

Perhaps on a bank holiday weekend the Belmullet pubs would be lively, but Westport is better most weekends

Every visitor seems to head for Matt Molloys, but there are other good pubs around too

a good night in belmullet will see you having a nice meal in a nice restaurant expect that during the meal the waitress insists you meet her and her friends for a drink in the pub after, not because she fancys you but because she thinks you look like good craic. when you get there her friends are 6 mental looking 17 year fellas all smoking massive reefers. at first they threaten to kill you but then you all become great friends. in fact they have started a band and have their first gig that night but their drummer got a notion in his head and emigrated to Australia that afternoon without warning ( this happens in belmullet all the time). you agree to play drums in their band even though you are tone deaf, you play to 500 people in a night club after the DJ has finished around 3.30am, everybody is out of their mind's on drink and drugs

8 hours later you wake up in a bed in a house a good hour from your hotel ( but still in the same parish) a woman who you don’t know cooks you breakfast, the band are not there but they call around and give you a lift in an oil tanker they have borrowed back to your hotel, because you never slept in the bed the hotel don't charge you.

you have no choice but to come back again as you have fallen in love with the daughter of the woman who cooked you breakfast. she is stunningly beautiful but wears only mayo football Jerseys her favorite one is signed by both aiden and seamus o shea ( one on each breast) she is studying actuarial science in dublin and you sit together on the 5 hour bus journey back to the big Shmoke discussing mayo football and the poetry of paul durcan.

farmchoice... you summed up in a post - better than I could do in endless talks - the reasons why I have fallen in love with Ireland (and to be precise with west of Ireland... and to be more precise with west of Mayo... ) some 25 years ago, and still I am in love!...

PS: tomorrow I will take my umpteenth journey from Genoa (Italy) to the west of Ireland... and tomorrow night I will be there!
