    Hi all,

Just to give an update on some of your feedback. As expected, the poll showed that pictures are a really divisive issue! More people voted for unlimited, unrestricted photos, but a majority voted for some kind of restriction. We've discussed it backstage, and we're going to relax the rule to allow unlimited pictures. However, please bear relevance and readability in mind. While we're not making it a firm rule, it would be considerate to post your entire recipe (ingredients and method) before posting pictures. This helps people who A) don't care about pictures, B) Find it difficult to read text surrounded by pictures, or C) Want to copy the recipe to a Word document or similar. You can of course repeat instructions around the relevant pictures if you'd like, but it would be appreciated to have the recipe work as a stand-alone too.

Also, while not a firm rule, we'd ask you to bear relevance in mind. I once had to ask a poster to edit a recipe with over 60 pictures in it. Remember that pictures act as a guide to keep people on track. We don't need pictures of every minute stage of the process. However, if you feel the recipe is so difficult, or that pictures of every single tiny detail is crucial, consider either unloading them as attachments that people can choose to view, or linking to an externally-hosted album using a website such as imgur.com

So, to sum up, please avoid the following scenarios where possible:

    BIG PICTURE
    Tiny line of writing
    BIG PICTURE
    Tiny line of writing
    BIG PICTURE
    Tiny line of writing

    and

    Picture 1: An onion
Picture 2: Me slicing into an onion
Picture 3: The diced onion on a chopping board
Picture 4: The onion in a saucepan

We'll reserve the right to PM you and ask you to review your pictures in the event that we feel they're making the recipe difficult to read or follow.

Hopefully this is a good compromise for everyone :).
