Would imagine the possession stats are crazy...

I don't normally post during a United match in case I miss something...

Should have got a chance out of that break

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,602 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Rooney and RVP should both have shot there...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭LostBoy101

We have plenty of possession but can't split them open. Carrick is badly missed.

  • Rooney should have took that on for the shot tbh

The buzz that was there in the team against City and Spurs seems to have gone, all taking the safe option when on the ball.

Because Carrick provides that additional protection in front of the back four
We look too afraid to take a risk
Too afraid to have a shot also

Could really do with a di Maria type player out there.

Mata has been good, Young excellent, RVP lacking the killer touch but he has been in there quite a bit, get one before the break, please.

No need Fellini in this type of game. Put di Maria on instead and move mata inside.

Other than you know the way he keeps using the ball well and not getting pushed around. But sure Rooney could just go deeper, that always works.

other than height, fellaini is offering very little.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,889 ✭✭✭✭The Moldy Gowl

Di Maria on for Fellaini at half time?? No need for the chief when all the possession is on the ground in west broms third?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,284 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

    Through ball fails again.

    Nice build up play there.

I've seen paint drying faster than Utd's passing :(

Much better attack there at least.

Or we could push felleni up front and we can use his height

F that.. When we don't have the ball he's golden plus west brom are all 6ft + his height is needed

Fellaini upfront and hoof it up to him for the second half?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Rooney needs to get in the game more. Di Maria on for fellaini.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,308 ✭✭✭madcabbage

Rooney needs to be further up the field, take a gamble dammit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,602 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Seriously am I the only one noticing the amount of attacks Fellaini is starting and playing a role in? Just because he's not around the box as much doesn't mean he's not doing well, if they get past him it's only Herrera stopping them having a run at the back 4 and he's hardly the most defensively reliable. I'd take off Rooney well before Fellaini, Young too.

You need at least one player taking a risk. Too many playing it safe in fear of giving up possession to a team that are player four centre backs with one up front..

Id take Valencia off for Di Maria and put Young at RB. West Brom arent attacking anyway so may as well be adventurous

If Van Gaal wanted a midfielder to completely slow down and stop attacking moves he could should have kept Cleverley, he would offer more than Rooney in midfield.

To be honest, if RVP is up front and we're not playing Rooney up there with him, I'd take Rooney off for Di Maria.

Fellaini is playing deeper than Herrera according to the positional analysis on Sky. It makes sense because Herrera has definitely gotten forward a lot and fluffed passes and crosses.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,284 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Valencia has linked up great with Mata but Lescott has been all over them both, McNair is doing great. get Rooney up front with RVP if it fails get Falcao on for either one in 65 minute. Young needs to stay upfield putting in the hoof balls.

    Dreadful first half .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,602 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Everyone asleep at the back there. Got away with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,895 ✭✭✭✭Sand

Backline nearly went asleep there - all seemed to think someone else was going to deal with it.

Felliani higher up now hopefully he can bully the CB's and open up some pockets of space

Van Persie is practically back in midfield, and Fellani seems to be playing as striker this half.

Play to your strengths and get Fellaini up top.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,602 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Strange decision swapping RVP and Fellaini here seemingly.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Great defending from Fellaini there :P

If our players could get out of the way for our own shots that'd be swell.

I swear to god if the word hoofball comes up again the way this game is going I'll fúcking lose it :P

So United now have fellaini up front, van persie and Rooney in midfield and Angel di Maria warming the bench.

I'm sure United will get one but it's very strange

Game needs width. Di Maria can bring width.
