Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    No French & German only.

Is Manx still widely spoken on the IOM?

It is certainly growing, but not that widely spoken. The last time I looked into it was last year, I'm not sure if things have gotten better or worse since then.

No but I'm always adjusting them because they feel uncomfortable.

Do you own a calculator other than an application on your phone, laptop etc.?

Could you tell us an 'never show your face again embarrassing' story? :D

Right. I was 18 years old. 5'3, and still a novice to binge drinking shots.
I was in New York, with my uncle and his family. My uncle is member of this club, it's like his favourite place. It's basically a members only drinking club. You pay a fee and drink as much as you like. It was his special place and I'm his beautiful niece he never gets to see and of course, as his youngest niece, from Ireland - I'm his favourite. Given that both of us were cut from the same cloth, as it were, it was only natural he thought I would enjoy a trip to this drinking club too.

So, off we go and it's pour your own. There's literally every single drink you can think of, and he has all his buddies there, and the Irish accent was like a currency. This massive tank of a guy was basically saying I could hold my drink, for a girl and of course I took this as a personal challenge. "I'd drink you under the table any day", sez I. Fully believing it. (I still do, he was drinking Budweiser I'd have wiped the floor with him) challenge accepted.
2 red beer cups. 1 bottle of tequila.

My uncle is like, Lexie - don't do it. But like most things in my life, I took the fucck it approach that night. What's the worst that could happen?
    The rules were simple.

Fill the cup, chug it. Last one standing.

    Lord.

The last clear thing I recall is the tequila spilling out of my mouth, burning my chin. I of course chugged the lot. He of course spat it out once he tasted it.
My next memory, is my auntie (who wasn't even there!) sitting on the floor with me, in the bathroom. I actually passed out. That was fine, she rubbed my back as I vomitted. Got me into the car, my cousin was driving (18) my auntie was in the back with me, my uncle was drunk in the front. Driving along the freeway I decide, **** this, I'm feeling a bit trapped in the car, and swung the door open. (The door that slides). Que my cousin almost having a stroke and coming to a screeching halt. They ended up putting the child lock on the door and I was now heaving into a bag of some sort.

We get back to their house and I was never as happy to be in fresh air. So happy infact I decided that under the giant tree in the front of the garden next to the pavement would be the ideal place to sleep.

My auntie, never actually seeing someone so drunk before, was trying to reason with me. "Come on honey, the police will pick you up". That was doing nothing to convince me to go inside, quite the opposite infact.

Eventually I got fed up of the idea of fresh air and went in. I was too drunk to make it up the stairs so the only room was downstairs, my cousins bed. Next to the bathroom. Grand. Throw me in there and hope for the best.

Now, obviously at this stage, they don't know what to do. My uncles drunk, my cousins not old enough to drink and my auntie is worried I'm going to die. She's even more worried I need the hospital (super expensive with no insurance), so she calls her daughter, a recently graduated nurse, to come check on me, to see what to do.

So, my aunt puts me to bed, and by now I'm still vomitting. The tequila is well gone but I had drank quite a bit before I thought the tequila was a good idea. So I'm there, not able to catch my breath I'm vomitting so hard, into my cousins waste paper bin. When I then decide you know what I should do? See if it fits on my head. Yep, you guessed it. I wore the vomit bin as a hat. Vomit dripping over me and the bed.

Anyway, I eventually passed out. Apparently my nurse cousin came but I don't remember that. I was face down on the floor. They put me back into bed, still passed out. And before she left she checked on me again, on the floor again.

It was then they figured I was probably safer on the floor anyway and left me there.

The next morning, my uncle walks in "do you still want to go see a baseball game?" **** off with your baseball game, I just had a near death experience and you expect me to go to see a baseball game.

I know he was super disappointed because he had a hard time finding those tickets and it was something he was really into and it was supposed to be a family day out. I was DYING for days, Jesus Christ. I can't even look at tequila now.
But that's probably the most embarrassed I've ever been. I make a show of myself most weekends but only in front of friends, brother, oh or people I don't care about/will never see again.

I got a walk in. I wrestled with two 5 year olds. I went to two kids parties. Is that enough exercise?

@Medussa - having a steak tea followed by the movie Deception followed by Match of the day followed by the Apprentice followed by Babe Station.
