Can I lodge a cheque made out to me to another persons BOI account?

    Thanks for contacting us here on Boards.ie.

    This will depend on how the cheque has been written. If it is crossed, it must be lodged to a bank account and cannot be cashed. If the cheque is marked Account Payee Only, this means it must be lodged to an account in the same name as the cheque payee. 

    A non-BOI cheque lodged to a BOI account takes five banking days to clear. If the cheque is drawn on another BOI account, it can take up to three working days to clear.
