Ok basically my budget is about 800 quid, I need a monitor included in that however.

So basically my decision is to either aim for a high end card(a 970) but cut back on the CPU(G3258 Anniversary) or look for something like a 280, and a better CPU(like a 4460)

It will be used primarily for gaming.

    Any advice is welcome :)

Rest of my build is fairly standard, 500W PSU, 8gb ram, H81 motherboard, case, 120gb 850 ssd, etc etc.

Prices of all parts. You might be missing savings that could help your dilemma.

Could be wrong here but the cpu will be a bottleneck unless its overclocked and i dont think you can do it that well with that board and you would need a cooler also and its only dual core so it wont play some newer games a better option might be to stretch your budget by 50 quid and go for at least an i3

    Pretty much squeezed out.

    Hmmmmm. Ponders.

    I'd save more.

I'd be aiming for at least an i5 if getting a 970.

Or the more budget sensible option compromise get an i5 and lesser gp. Could pick a gtx 770 on adverts for 200. Or an amd r9 290. I have a 970, coming from a 770 and not a huge gap in games I played arma3, Rome 2.

    Me personally would save more.

Drop the SSD for a 1tb HDD, WD Blue or something, save €40, that'll let you fit an i3 4160. Or drop GPU to a 280X or a 290, save loads that way, minimal performance drops

While the pentium anniversary is supposed to be good and overclockable, its still dual core, and I get the impression that will matter in the future, Id try an get a better cpu and drop the gpu a bit. I guess you can always upgrade either, but I can see a cpu lasting 5 years now while a gpu is going to start wheezing after 2 years with stuff like 4k and VR coming along.

Have a read of the above, one of the regulars here did some benchmarks with the pentium anniversary and a 980. It shows the good and bad of the processor.

I've used one. It's good on a budget rig, or if you're only looking at not-AAA stuff (GTAV, Star Citizen, Crysis3, etc.). I wouldn't pair it with anything more than a 960 though.
