    Hi all,

I was speaking to a mate recently who said that it's amazing how much access to your smartphone usage people working in phone shops have.

He said that people working in phone shops only need your number and they are able to read your send and received text messages from their own computer and the are able to know what websites you have been browsing. He also said they are able to send text messages from your mobile number to other people from their computer if they want?? The same goes for the Vodafone network.

Is this true? Do people working for Vodafone and people in places like Carphone Warehouse know everything you do on your phone if they want?

Is this true? How much access to personal texts and browsing habits do these ppl have?

This is the private browser, as you can see different colour.

And here you can see both the normal and private browser running next to eachother without issues

It's best to assume that nothing is private. I don't know that employees in the phone shop would have access to that kind of data but your operator certainly has and it seems pretty likely that various security agencies would too.

Private browsing just means that the information isn't retained in the history on your phone. The pages you visit still have to be delivered to you over the network. It's not actually private.

Care to elaborate a little? Do you mean just your phone or are you using some kind of security which prevents your mobile operator from knowing what it's delivering to you via its network?

Welcome in the world of BES ;)
But to be short, my phone has default all kind of encryptions except text for some reason.
Data is sent encrypted, the normal browser does not but for the private browser, in BES is does sent encrypted in user modes I need to look it up

Isn't that the same BES that had to hand all their crypto algorithims to the Yanks, then the Saudis then every other government that asked in order to keep said government contracts? The ones the French cancelled because of security concerns?

I don't fully trust any smartphone OS but if push comes to shove I would prefer Open source encryption (plenty of apps with it available on android) over BES right now.

PS: Orbot + Orweb + VPN and using passcodes on encrypted cloud storage should offer some protection from the guy trying to add your missus' pics to his **** bank.
