Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out which group to register for, keep full 90hrs and have an evening start or lose a few hours and pick the Monday morning start.
Anyone like to share their thoughts?

    Try audax Ireland Facebook?

At a guess you'd probably be finished around 80h, if you can limit sleep and avoud queuing at sleeping controls etc.

Your average speed on bike imo isn't going to vary much, its off bike you'll save/waste time

First time doing 1200 so will be 90hrs. Would be good, in a way, to go for 84, but being a rookie I aint taking any risks.

Discussion from the audax guys here might help

I've gone for the 90 hour option starting at 18:30. I don't sleep well before an event anyway so I might as well be on the road during the night rather than trying to sleep for a few hours and getting up really early in the morning. Also it's my first time doing the event. I'd sooner have time in hand and end up catching people rather than be looking for time.

So that's a Hobsons choice then!

Go for the evening before, you get the atmosphere of the big send of, big crowds, lots of people, you should be OK through the night, and then have a double breakfast, one early morning to deal with the noddies if your get them, and another at whatever time you normally have breakfast so as to trick your body into thinking it is a brand new day.

You will also have a few thousand cyclists with you on the road, it will be the fastest 200/300/400km you will ever do as an audaxer. The effect of having so many around oyu is quite incredible. Just don't hammer it, alot of people get carried away, seen a tandem couple the last time who were hammering away at 40kmph with adrenaline and half of the UK tailgating them. I passed them with in a few hours, completely destroyed.

He would be in the Vedettes, I think his time was in the 60 to 70 hour mark the last time although I can't remember.

I'm in for 90hr at 18:30. Most of the Audaxireland gang are in either the 18:15 or 18:30 start but I reckon if you start an hour or so later you'll still catch me on the road.

I'm heading for my first evening start tomorrow for a 400 starting at 19:00 so I'll find out how that suits me...

I'd put him in the group of the most friendly people I ever met, great organizer and a very humble chap. There is always a smile on his face whatever happens! Not to mention he is the current president of Audax Ireland :)

This bunch is full of special people by the way.
