The only reason - I'd check everything to the nth degree - is because what ForeRight said.

Also - I've seen 105 - on a championship links (so not as bad as that)

    And mike - I think had a 95 ?

Explain all 3 winning all 3 scratch cups, the ridiculous scores.

Are you one of them?? Starting to seem you are!

    lol :D:D

    I'm a bit like your man alright - off a handicap I can't play to :D

Look - the title question is - Is this a record.

It isn't is the answer and even a legit poster on here has had a more impressive score in Enniscrone I think ?

He's talking about the counting holes in the classic I assume, and yes you can say it's not a level par round but still very impressive off 12. 8 birdies in 16 holes is equally so on an away course!!

Is a remarkable day for him. Agree. First real point on thread.

But if we just look at this if possible being totally "naive"

A + 2 is going to get 2 to 4 on a normal day. He is going to be aggressive - more so than normal in that format.

Have wedges to short par 4s.

Away course or not - a good + 2 will hit a drive and mid iron onto traditional par 5s.

Anyway - I've seen guys this week off +2 and + 3 , and every 2nd hole they have a bird putt.

An easy parkland would be a joke (if a real +2)

You can't say because someone is +2 they will be hitting mid irons into par 5s or wedges into par 4s. I've played with +2 handicaps who wouldn't hit it much more than 250 off the tee and others who hit it miles. That's not a factor, unless you know the player and how far he hits it?

And you can say he should be making 3-4 birdies every day and maybe that's the case, but a lot of the better +2 players IMO are the ones who score reasonably well in chamoionships and get cut because the standard scratch is always so high, rather than shooting the lights out in a classic or in a scratch cup after rocking up last minute in a 2 ball, if a post on page 1 is true.

Agree we don't know facts - but watched lads this week hit drives and mid irons to par 5s - and the par 5s above are short and par 4s too.

    This is not a championship.

A guy off + 2 should be well able to get over 4 birdies a round and you will find it hard to find one who hasn't had 7/8.

I measured drives during the week - they were 280 to 300 yards +

97 points is not that disbelieveable.

And fair play to them on the scratch cup. Not only are they in great form but it's a great achievement. We should be applauding them.

Non qualifying comp, placing everywhere that day.

Well that explains that. No evidence of wrong doing, just have to assume it was good golf.

Team events are odd have had a 91 in the ACC where our scores were 31,33,33 everything just fell right. Over 100 is nearly impossible. But would expect the winning score to be 95 most days

Just to show how sensitive this format of golf is to timing look at scorecard example ( I have made up below) - would show why mike had a score like that.

I don't agree with mike that over 100 is near impossible - as only a slight modification to sequence could optimise this even more. For example another 4 pointer could shift this towards 50.

If people study scores below and have played plenty of golf - it is easy to see how it could happen.

The key is that - only slight changes can cause a large difference in score.

That is why off say an 80 odd score you feel miles away - but many of the times it was bad timing.

    Hole A B C Total
    1 1 2 3 5
    2 4 2 0 6
    3 2 2 2 4
    4 3 3 0 6
    5 0 3 4 7
    6 3 2 0 5
    7 3 0 3 6
    8 2 2 0 4
    9 1 1 3 4
    19 17 15 47

You can see that - there has only been (19 - 17 and 15 scored by the 3 players over 9)

You do realise these had 97 on an away course with 2 scores to count on each hole??

18h and not 1 gross bogey on the card with a 12 and a 7 hcap playing.

Incredible people think it's genuine, 82 was 2nd because it was a tough day!
