Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thank **** for that. Brutal second half.

That's top four done I would think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,752 ✭✭✭Thepoet85

Objective this year was to get top 4. I don't care how we do it, just get back in the CL was priority. Kick on next season and start worrying about playing decent football

    Thank fu*k that's over

DDG not getting MOTM is kind of baffling, kept the team in it when Palace were on top,

Badly need someone to play the Carrick role in the team when he is out,Blind doesn't look up to it,lovely footballer when given time on the ball but passes the ball sideways and backwards too often, need someone to get on the ball and drive the team forward.

    Anyway 3 points,il take that.

Another muck performance, same as it ever was.

Aye, apart from all those games where it wasn't.

Ashley Young should be nowhere near the united team next season. LVG improved him this season but he never looks up when crossing and wastes most of his good positions, much like Valencia.

Dunno if that's sarcasm or not but bizzare considering the game that just took place.

Get out of it, I had actual hate for Ashley Young last year, after Big Save he's probably the next contender for player of the season, he's kept Di Maria out of the team on merit and deserves his place on this side

Yup, get top 4, stagger over the line to the summer and buy minimum 6 top class players. Simply staggering that a club with the resources of Man United has to play the likes of Valencia and Evans.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,752 ✭✭✭Thepoet85

Valencia was poor from start to finish. RB a must need. Would Clyne be able to make the step up I wonder. Could be no worse than val

THe Falcao issue is a service issue. Wouldn't matter if we Cavani, or anyone else up there, the service at the moment is non-existent. He did well to make the Herrera chance but there's no point wasting a fortune on forwards when in effect they have to drop back to midfield to get the ball, or else their job is to chase down defenders.

There's no doubting he's one of our main threats, but in general he wastes the majority of great positions he gets in. I know he set up the winner but it shouldn't have even got to Fellaini. He rarely even looks when crossing or passing the ball into the box.

If we get 4th, what standard of team could we face in the qualifying round?

He's no different than he ever was, he just gets the ball more now.

I think the problem with Young is that he tries too often to go back on his right rather than take it on his left. But he was decent today; had a hand in both goals.

Valencia is the anti-footballer. He's nothing more than a liability at RB.

Fair amount of surgery needed in the summer to sort that team out

    A high standard. Last years,

    League Route
    Beşiktaş - Arsenal
Standard Liège - Zenit Saint Petersburg
    Copenhagen - Bayer Leverkusen
    Lille - Porto
    Napoli - Athletic Bilbao

Yeah, for a fantastic season he's got 2 goals and 4 assists. The way people go on you'd think it was 20 goals and 40 assists.

He's awful. Hope he's gone in the summer.

Daley Blind also continues to underwhelm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,994 ✭✭✭Backstreet Moyes

What Blind done for that free kick is unforgiving.

Valencia is woeful at everything Smalling had to cover him all game.

I wouldnt be too concerned about scoring against Palace, dont think they'd be able to setup as well defensively as the last few teams we have faced, we seem to be riding the bad varience wave in front of goal atm which will change eventually and hopefully this weekend. Palace do have a lot of pace on the counter though so could easily hit us, especially if we defend in the same manner as the Everton game.

Both teams have lost last 3 games.
Palace have conceeded 1.37 goals per game this season and at least one in each of the last 11 games they've played.

Might have a bit of Man utd win/over 2.5 goals.

will check odds when home later

    Thank You David :D

Person from Athy on MUTV complaining about United playing too many back passes and to win you need to go forward.

Evans was shocking again when he came on.Nothing to do with match sharpness. At one stage he got between Zaha and the ball, allowed himself to be robbed and then nutmegged.

Valencia was Valencia, runs forward 5 yards with the ball, turns and plays it back thus killing any kind of attack on the right hand side.It must break Mata's heart playing out there with him.

Anyone else' sphincter clench up when Valencia receives the ball in our half?

I'm still going for two central defenders to be bought this summer.

Given how injury prone the current lot are, and Evans maybe sold.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,061 ✭✭✭irishfeen

Evans, Valencia were beyond cack today ... Valencia especially now has to go in the summer, Evans might slip in as a squad player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,754 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Van Gaal says Rooney had a dead leg, will play next week.
Praise for Young and De Gea.
Says Chelsea will beat Liverpool when asked if his old friend Jose will do him a favour.

In fairness they dug deep to get a win, but players like Valencia and Evans are dragging this team down.

The first 2 to be sold in the summer hopefully.

Shaw after being taken to hosptal :( but LVG says he doesn't think its serious...

I think Young does deserve praise, he kept going today, kept probing and kept doing his best out on that side. Unfortunately the end product just isn't there but it isn't for lack of effort.

It's quite possible that De Gea instructs his walls not to jump. Still no reason for cowering though.

Any thoughts on the rotating penalty takers?

I can see it putting extra pressure on every kick, which is hardly a good thing. Its not often you will see a club that doesn't have a designated penalty taker who keeps the job even if he misses one or two.

problem is RVP may not last much longer and Rooney has a poor record at them throughout his career. We don't have a fixture in the side that should be on them 100%, imo.
