Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hate mail

I received a rather disturbing flyer from the Iona institute this morning with the local Link magazine and a flyer for the Dunboyne spa hotel

While I have no interest in this referendum (married with 4 kids) - I really don't want this "institutes" hate mail coming through my letter box - can I report them / leaflet people to the police?

No idea if you can report them, but what I would suggest you do is vote yes and give these people no reason to be in existence anymore.

What if one of those kids turns out to be gay?

The wife will probably vote yes!

Surely its of no interest to her either? Sure shes married.

Actually, as a matter of interest, would you walk (or drive, cycle, bus etc) to the local school and tick a page if you're straight child needed a document for their upcoming wedding?

After reading what I've seen on here today and from that filth that someone posted in my letterbox this morning - I will be voting and I will be voting YES!

For someone with "no interest in it" 10/11 of your posts are about it ;)

Anyway are you really thinking of wasting Gardais time with a leaflet just because you don't support the message?

I'm sure they have better things to be doing

I understand not having an interest in the referendum, but that's a rather peculiar reason to say so. Why would your marital/parental status have any bearing?

Gardaí are probably the wrong ones to go to in this case. If you think it counts as hate speech then maybe talk to a lawyer instead and see if it's possible to press charges.

Not everyone agrees with the Iona Institute, but I doubt if they posted "filth" or anything characterisable as hate speech.

If this specifically relates to the referendums, contact SIPO, as I understand Iona said they weren't campaigning and therefore didn't need to register with SIPO. http://www.sipo.gov.ie/en/

Probably not in the case of flyers that aren't addressed to anyone in particular.

What does the Dunboyne flyer have to do with the Iona institute one?

    Nothing, probably.

Yesterday we got a Yes Equality and a MAFM leaflet, in the same drop.

    Scrap the cap!

I got a worse one tonight:

Threatening Severe judgement from Almighty God on any society that endorses using the BBC logo!

we got horrid stuff arriving through our mail box during the last abortion referendum

I don't think anybody should be allowed to put these flyers through anyone's mailbox - they don't know who is going to pick it up!

If a broadcaster put it on television / radio they would be reprimanded!

    That's dreadful.

Can you scan it and post it here so we can see what it looks like?
