I'm wondering what I can do to charge my camera battery whilst away in my camper. I can charge my phone from the 12v, but is there any system that would allow me to charge my camera battery, the charger for which is 240v and I won't have a hook up option whilst away. I'm thinking some sort of Inverter but I know nothing about them

You can buy inverters handy enough, a camera charger wouldn't be using much so you wouldn't need a heavy duty one.
I got one of these a few years ago

Very useful thing to have.

You can get cheap inverters in maplin l, halfords etc. You can buy USB charters for a lot of camera batteries which would allow you to charge from a 12v phone charger.

My camera battery is 7.2v.

I imagine that the E: Can would be a better bet than a phone charger as it would charge through the camera's own charger, I'm not sure what voltage a phone charger would be

What's the make and model of the camera?
I'd get a low voltage DC charger. Does the battery charger have a DC barrel connection?

Inverter's on cigarette lighter sockets are the the devil's tools.
That is not a 17amp connection!

Running a battery charger off an MSW will probably run very hot and inefficiently. Penny to a pound inverter & wall wart will use more power than the battery charging.

5V usually for a 3.6V phone cell.
Too low for a camera.

The sony camera had a proprietary two pin thing i think it more for studio use than charging

I use a unit which perfomes the same as ONE OF THESE.
The unit I have is a DLH Universal Li-Ion Charger which I bought in an E Leclerc supermarket in France. It will charge both 3.7V and 7.4V batteries as used in phones, cameras, video cameras etc., but it doesn't do AA or AAA type.

I had forgotten to bring the charger for my Samsung camera with me

You might get away with one of these if it plugs into the original charger without the wall wart end.

The Chinese one M. posted has a voltage doubler/op amp do-fer built in so if it takes a 5V USB then all you need is a 2A supply.

This is the universal charger you want.

I'm not thinking of the camera, I'm thinking of the external battery holder charger do-fer.
Substitute the mains PSU for a dc regulator and keep the original charger.

Thanks for all the help, I found a charger that suits my purpose I hope, and it comes with a battery! handy to have a spare. It was very cheap too (hopefully will be fit for purpose)
