    Some trans women cannot take or don't want to take hormones, should they be banned as lesser not women or should they be allowed to compete as the gender they are

    The IAAF rules state:
    - consultation with a panel of medical experts
    - endocrine assessment

    which obviously means that each case will be looked at individually. If the medical panel decided that there is an unfair advantage, they might try to stop her from competing.

    Until a few years ago these kind of bans happened quite a few times, usually with intersex athletes rather than transgender as Maria José Martínez-Patiño can testify, but nowadays I'm pretty sure she would be allowed to compete.
