    Shut the door.

and that would help how? The psychological position of just trying to shut up shop and be defeated by 5-1 rather than tying to score goals is untenable.

Bayern played right into Barcas hands there in the first half.

Utter madness going 3 on 3 at the back.

They had no choice but to do that if they wanted to get back in the tie.

I liked their attacking movement. Now, though it's all immaterial.

Bayern had too be more adventurous going into tonight, but also needed some reassurance in defence.

Why the feck then did he opt for the "safe" option of Lahm at midfield when he's by a distance the best full-back he has to chose from tonight. Surely Thiago/Alonso/Schwein would suffice?

    Pep over-thinks too much

Juup Heynkes must be the unluckiest manager in football.

He won Real Madrid their first Champions League in 30 odd years and then gets sacked a few weeks later.

Wins Bayern their first Champions League in 13 and gets sacked.

Some managers have no luck at all....

He was more or less sacked 6months before he won the champions league with Bayern. He was told in December 2012, he would be gone the following summer and replaced by Pep.

After what happened in 2010, and 2012, Bayern wanted a champions league. And they thought Pep was the man to do it, as he won it twice in 3 years, he has experience. But they didnt expect to win it in 2013.

Bayern have actually played ok. They have created enough to score 4 or maybe 5.

    Agreed.
But unless the team scores. It means they are playing sh1t according to some.

It's even more ironic when you consider Barca play more like jupp's Bayern than Pep's Barca.

People saying "but he had to do it to get back in the game" about the 3 v 3 shambles but he did it in the opening 20 minutes of the last game

    It's Pep indulging himself

They could and most likely would be in front here if Guardiola had gone four at the back.

The myth of pep guardiola slowly unraveling!

He should be ok, He has won 1 UEFA supercup, 1 Club World Cup and 2 german leagues in the last 2 years with Bayern plus other records such as the longest undefeated team etc, although I agree that they were expecting maybe at least 1 champion more from him but that's because people thought that Pep would be able to do with Bayern what he did with Barcelona (for instance win the sextuplet). Thats much more than other coaches in the premier league who are still considered walking Gods for some reason.

Also I think Jupp left voluntarily and wasnt sacked? I remember because Real tried to hired him and he said he just wanted some "quiet" time.

That weak defence is pretty inexcusable when you look and see one of the best left backs in the world in mid field

Any barca players on yellows for the game?

Neymar, pique, alves all in danger of missing final.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the latter subbed.

All yellows were reset after the quarters.

Throw Fellaini in for Messi and Barca would be 6 or 7 up :pac:

Can't help but feel if Barca were without Messi & Neymar the shoe would be on the other foot.
Those front 3 too are basically the worst frontline for any defence to go up against chasing a game

Such crap for commentators to go on about during a match. Must be 4/5 times they mentioned it now

    Big brother has started folks!

Had to check the tv listings there. With the picture quality and that announcement I wasn't sure if I'd gone back in time 10 years.

He might have two goals, but Neymar has been poor for a lot of the game.

Barcas 2nd half performance has shown they had a tough 90mins at the weekend.

Mayern made wide spread changes and dominated the 2nd half.

This weekend or next weekend. Sociedad was tough. Moyes has done a decent job. They were definitely sparing themselves for the weekend against atleti.

It'd have been fun if Bayern nabbed one more.

Can't see Guardiola being there next season. Bayern have gone backwards since Heynckes

To be fair its hard to motivate yourself when your oponnent needs to score 5 goals to win.

Execution more than strategy is what did for Bayern. Barcelona's second tonight was comical. Bayern made loads of chances tonight and if they hadn't lost the head at two down last week I think tonight might have been a bit different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

Suarez was a huge loss in the 2nd half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,584 ✭✭✭ahnowbrowncow

They missed Robben big time, he was their top scorer (still is?) before getting injured. He would have given Alba a torrid time.

Luis Enrique got away with that tonight. Taking Suarez off for Pedro was daft and gave Bayern the impetus and on another night they would have converted more of their chances. Barcelona simply aren't good enough defensively to sit back and try to kill a game.
