Does this mean 720 is not available at all?

If so I think I will keep the present version even though Kodi is slow to shut down and hammers one core during the delay, because it is pointless, from my point of view, to try to watch sport - like the soccer tonight - in 576 and not 720.

yes, but rte1 now is not available in 720 due to the capacity problems, so if there is sport is very likely that 720 will be unavailable.

this can be fixed, so just be patient :)

Ah, thank you for the clarification ..... I thought it was a permanent move to 576 ;)

    I will update to 2.1.5 :D

2.1.4 would not update so I uninstalled and installed 2.1.5

News Now played in 720 according to Kodi

RTÉ 1 & RTÉ 2 failed to play at all.

It tells me it failed and to check the log ..... but I found nothing in the kodi.log file about it :( except maybe this
22:53:50 T:140449519511552 ERROR: JSONRPC Server: Failed to bind ipv4 serversocket
22:53:50 T:140447856404224 NOTICE: Start - EPG thread started
22:53:57 T:140449519511552 ERROR: Window Translator: Can't find window filestackingdialog
22:53:57 T:140449519511552 ERROR: Window Translator: Can't find window peripherals

    Ideas?

Had tried that a few times with the same result.

Maybe a restart will help ...... will check tomorrow.

    Shutting down for the night.

    The error message .....
    Playback Failed
One or more items failed to play. Check the log for more
    information about this message.

Seems there is no need because after firing up this morning all three live channels played correctly.

Sorry I did not have the opportunity to try a reboot last night.

Probably you got an orphan ffmpeg process running, that can interfere with the newly started rte stream decrypted, it basically won't start. The mechanism there is far from perfect

The zip size seems to have gone from 133KB to 13MBs?

    Something wrong with that?

EDIT: It seems to have ffmpeg.exe of 32.4MB (compressed 12.6MBs) included in the Zip. :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 222 ✭✭zakalibit

yes I had to include windows ffmpeg.exe, I'm not sure that an ordinary windows user knows how to install ffmpeg executable and make it available on the path, as well I had to include pycrypot windows binaries.

An option would be to produce 2 versions of the zip, but that is to much household for now.

What would be the result if I extracted the zip, deleted the win directory, and zipped the remains again?

the top level playlist looks like this one:
    #EXTM3U
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=883325023,BANDWIDTH=4096000
    rte1/rte1-720.m3u8
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=883325023,BANDWIDTH=2048000
    rte1/rte1-576.m3u8
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=883325023,BANDWIDTH=1024000
    rte1/rte1-360.m3u8
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=883325023,BANDWIDTH=512000
    rte1/rte1-270.m3u8
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=883325023,BANDWIDTH=256000
    rte1/rte1-180.m3u8

and you have no choice, it will select automatically the highest available bitrate

On Windows 10 with Kodi 16.0
RTÉ Player HQ updated to V2.2.0 automatically just now and the 3 live streams (RTE One, RTE Two and RTE News Now) work just fine for me.
