    Hey all

Pretty new to the whole visa aspect, im heading to Cancun, Mexico for my Honeymoon for a week before heading to LA for another two and half weeks. We have gotten our ESTA a month ago, but we are unsure how it works. Do we should them at Dublin Airport, informing them we are heading to Mexico first or do we should when we are getting the flight to LA( stopping in Phoenix first).

We are unsure with the the way visa's work as we stay mostly in Europe for holidays. Any help is greatly appreciated.

ESTA will be required on your first entry to the US unless coming from a Pre-Clearance Airport. Unless you are transiting in the US en route to Mexico, it will not be required until you enter the US from Mexico.

You don't mention your routing so hard to comment.

If you're heading to Mexico first, you won't deal with any US agents in Dublin, you only do pre-clearance if flying direct to the US from Dublin. Your first encounter with US Immigration will be in Phoenix (unless they do US pre-clearance in your departure airport in Mexico) and your ESTA approval will be sufficient for entry to the US. You don't need to do a printout of the ESTA approval, it's tied to your Irish passport number so the US agent will bring it up on the screen when they input your passport number.
