Thor doesn't call for gays to be murdered, either.

Doesn't he? He seems like a fairly murdery god.

He's an equal opportunities murdery god though. Doesn't matter who you are. Displease him and you get the hammer. Kinda like a celestial Mod.

Nah, that's a misconception. He's just a simple carpenter. Loves hitting nails home all day long.

I'm delighted the sock angle has gained a foothold in the conversation.

Now it's up to us to toe the line.

Well, of course you were going to say that. As if I was expecting you to say: The one false god.

How did you decide that he (Jehovah?) was a true god and that all the others were false?

Hell will be a very full place if all the others turn out to be false. What evidence do you have of your god being the true god?

He read it in a book?

OMG how did I miss this thread!? :D

My favourite part is the fixation on the 'Lawyer to the stars' thing (my glib pisstake on being a media lawyer in Ireland in reality). I can change it to Space Lawyer if you'd prefer constance (or whatever your name is)?

The tanakh is just a valid book as any of those science ones

Sure is. Folios, bound together and glued inside a sturdy cover. 'Tis a book alright! As valid as any other. As valid, indeed, as Cinderella, Snow White, Puss in Boots, or any number of equally valid fairytales.

As a homophobic gay priest with a strong interest in atheism I find this thread to be simultaneously confusing and homoerotic, good day gentlemen

Heard the most homophobic Yes voter today he declared I'm voting Yes because I feel sorry them tis bad enough they're queer the poor f**kers might somehow get a bit of happiness getting married!

Of course it is... assuming that we are not discussing science... but since you were making claims regarding human biology... we are. I'm guessing that you still don't have any evidence for a god or soul then?

Without context, it's hard to tell. He could have meant society really treats homosexuals like c**p, lets try to start treating them fairly by voting Yes.

Eh, what about identical twins? One fertilized egg, two babies.

I suppose that's why there's always one evil twin - no soul.

Along those lines, conjoined twins that can't be separated: 2 souls or 1?

2, one for each concise, if they can think they where give a soul by god

Not as tragic as locking up living, breathing, thinking, feeling "fallen women" and abusing them.

When have I ever suggested locking up living, breathing, thinking, feeling "fallen women" and abusing them was anything but heinous?

A few animals appear to be able to think though, to an extent at least. What happened there?

They have a soul and should not be murdered. Like the apes

I don't know, but certainly Irish law allows abortion in this situation, though my understanding is that catholic teaching doesn't.

Do you believe it doesn't, or shouldn't?

And if a woman's heart condition is being dangerously exacerbated by a pregnancy, do you believe she should be given the option of terminating that pregnancy?

    Where?

    Seriously?

Which animals, and where does this information come from?

Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act 2013

Is that the same legislation that states the intentional taking of unborn life in a crime punishable by up to 14 years in prison?

You'll have to do better than that.

Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act 2013

Well exactly. And I'm fairly sure it's only setting out in detail what the Supreme Court had already ruled, so not a change in the law, just clarification.

It's also the same legislation that says a suicidal woman can have an abortion, albeit after some rigmarole.

That's not quite what it says you know.

They have a similar punishment in Britain, and interestingly, they actually use it. A woman was recently convicted and got a long sentence for illegal abortion there. When was the last time that happened in Ireland? Yet Dr Peter Boylan mentioned that his hospital regularly performs abortions.

I also gave you a link about minors in state care being taken to the UK for abortions. Do you think any of the HSE staff who took them were risking a prison sent Me?

Better than what? It sets out provision for abortion in certain situations - that's what you asked.

Must say I didn't understand that either, I wondered if the poster might be one of those bot things. I see words I recognize, but taken together I can't make them make sense.

I think he may have a jar of marbles over his keyboard. It's hay fever season. Periodically, he sneezes and a load of marbles clatters across the keyboard. One lands on the <return> key. Post is posted but no sense is made.

    Harmless, funny, yet mildly pathetic...

Do they have souls? Will they be in bunny heaven?
