Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The team that was touted to start for most of the week, I suppose the real question now is how they actually line out positionally?

Will we play a 3rd midfielder or a sweeper behind the half-back line?
If we play a sweeper, will it be Seanie O'Brien (perfect for the role) or Gavin (also good for the role but not as pacy). The fact that Wayne doesn't start would suggest that it will be SOB and Gavin will actually be at centre-back.
That would suggest Paudie to wing-back which I wouldn't be overly happy about, I prefer him higher up the pitch.
Who will mark Shane O'Donnell? Will Hickey man-mark him if McGrath doesn't make it.
Can Condon limit the influence of Conlon?
How fit is Dodge, we need him to win a fair share of ball and to carry it too... we've a good forward line but it's light enough in terms of powerful players who can run at defences. Downes and Reidy may need to be called upon.
Will Lynch line out at half-forward for puck-outs? Will he be given total freedom?
Can we score goals? Will we feed Mulcahy and Dowling the ball we need?
Will Hannon replicate his performances from the tail end of last year?

    It's a promising start.

I just checked as I wasn't sure if you were serious, but yes Limerick are favourites with the bookies.

I slightly fancy Clare, but hadn't planned on putting any money on it.
    I will now.

Its not beyong the realms of possibility we play a large chunk of this game with four forwards. Browne and Dodge will realistically drop back.

Tj hoping to expose the clare backs and create space for Mulcahy, Lynch, Hannon and Dowling. Looking at the two starting teams I think we'll shade it.

I'm thinking of putting money on Limerick after seeing the team; if Clare put out the team that is rumoured, I'd really hope we have enough to win through.

    Limerick -3 is almost 2/1

Clare team officially announced, same as was leaked during the week:

    1. Patrick Kelly
    2. Domhnall O'Donovan
    3. Cian Dillon
    4. David McInerney
    5. Pat Donnellan
    6. Conor Ryan
    7. Jack Browne
    8. Pat O'Connor
    9. Gearoid O'Connell
    10. Shane Golden
    11. Tony Kelly
    12. Colin Ryan
    13. John Conlon
    14. Shane O'Donnell
    15. David Reidy

Now it's just a matter of seeing whether those 15 do line out, without knowing the full 26, Davy can make a few changes before throw-in. It does seem slightly unlikely, since reports from within the camp would suggest that most of those were set to start.

Maybe Seadna Morey if he is passed fit? Nicky O'Connell/Bobby Duggan as outside possibilities for late changes. Nothing overly fearsome, I don't think.

Would have fancied us more a few weeks ago, but think it is a slight advantage Limerick now with our missing players, but if the debutants can step up to the mark we still have every chance. He's hoping for a cracker anyway

A lot of them have been soft frees, but Clare have been very undisciplined so far.

On the evidence so far we seem to have learnt nothing from last year defensively.

Limerick have got two phantom frees but same poor tacking from last year from Clare.

Does Shane Dowling look like he's carrying a bit too much weight?

Are you blind? Struck him in the head. After missing the first time,

Striking or attempting to strike is a red.

    Fully deserved.

    Dope.

An Absolutely dire passage of officiating by both referee and linesman that led to that mess at the end.

Theyll get someone seriously hurt if they haven't already

Was stupid. But he touched his helmet with the Hurley and he went down like he was shot. Embarrassing from the Limerick player.

Very naive to strike like that straight in front of Sean Cleere. Cleere even had to move his own head out of the way. Was only ever going to be a deserved red. Shame because the game hasn't got going at all and it almost certainly won't now.

Found long periods of that half very tough to watch. Was expecting a much better game. Hoping it improves a lot in the second half, lots of frees disrupting the flow of the game too.

No what's embarrassing is yet another clare player lets his side down in a championship game yet again. 4 red cards in last 3 games.

Wonder will the decision to vote down black cards in hurling be revisited next year - when played at speed, it's certainly the superior game, but the red card incident just proved that hurlers can be just as cynical as their footballing counterparta.

The tendency of both teams to play additional players in defence is leading to a poor spectacle

A player getting deservedly sent off for striking and the 'victim' exaggerating the effect of the strike are not mutually exclusive. Diving continues to make inroads into our game

Precisely, it was the striking that I meant, sometimes you get hurling fans saying that the game is way cleaner, ignoring Tommy Walsh's antics, for one.

    stupid from donnellan

but ogrady doing an "eden hazard"
stretchered off with his head bandaged was a bit much
he will have a quick recovery for the second half

surely cian lynchs stick into pat o'connors neck in the 2nd minute was an equally "filthy stroke" as you put it .
