David Byrne, just such a great stage presence without there being any ego about him.

Know someone who is very good friends with Frantz and Weymouth and stays with them a lot...not such a big Byrne fan though, and assumed it was an ego thing but they just don't talk about him a lot. It's like "yeah, met him a few times (makes face)".

I love Ian Brown, but his voice is a bit dodgy. Suits his music perfectly though

Yep...still have the Utah Saints tee shirt to prove it!

It's so long ago, I just remember Trabants with lights in them...
Actually it's one of my better remembered concerts. I saw them in Slane as well, when were they there last? Was nowhere near as exiting.

    Also:

Anthony Kiedis. Did well for a bloke that can't sing.

Dunno how people can even begin to narrow these things down to one or two artists.

    Agreed its very tricky but
    1. Freddy
    2. Mozza
    3. Mick
    4. Holly Johnson
    Just realised they're all Brits.

Used to chat to him a fair bit years ago because he knew friends of mine.

He was (affectionately) known as Mad Dave. :pac:

    Nice chap though.

Two best I've seen live weren't men at all.

    Sharleen Spiteri and Chrissie Hynde.

Saw Spiteri years ago. Back in the I Don't Wanna Lover days, before she got a makeover. Thought she was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz forgettable.

Years ago for me too, and I was going with low expectations and maybe caught a good night, but was class I thought.

In no particular order and of course, in my opinion:

    Justin Hawkins - The Darkness

    Tim Smith - Cardiacs

    Damon Albarn - Blur

    Freddie Mercury - Queen

    Debbie Harry - Blondie

    Kate Bush

    Trish Keenan - Broadcast

    Black Francis - Pixies

    Karen Carpenter - The Carpenters

I haven't seen all these artists live but from watching old videos and footage I can see how much they ruled their game.

Ian Brown - the frontman Liam Gallagher would liked to have been!!!

Very inconsistent singer. When he's off, he's really off.

has anyone said Elvis? I thought it had to be a front man for a band but I see a few solo artists mentioned!

Would have thought it depends more on what he's on than off...
