Is there anyone on here that has done/is doing the MSc in Business Management in Maynooth? If so, what are you thoughts on the course? Is it well structured, did you learn much from it, does it enhance one's employment prospects, is the course content very difficult to get a handle on coming from a non-business discipline etc. ?

All and any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hey!

I am currently finishing up this masters! It's ok, but it is rather broad! I'd class it as an introduction to business, rather than being a specialist course if you understand where I am coming from. You get a taste of a lot of modules, but would need to do an internship if you wanted to pursue anything in detail afterwards, ie. marketing. The workload is stressful, there are a lot of group projects so you need to be close to Maynooth and available full time to meet up to do them. The individual assignments are 5000 words each, so you have to allow a lot of time to study for them and complete them.

The thesis is 30,000 words. You don't hear about that until around March, and have until the end of July to complete that. It is in collaboration with a company so you do get a great insight into the business world through that, but you do need to do a lot of data collection which can be tricky, the company needs to be very open. You can have a company assigned to you by the college, or you can self source a project. The company tells you what they want you to research.

The course is 2 days a week every second week. Classes are 9-5. This can seem a bit odd, but with the workload and the outside study and prep, it actually works.
