That guard....err Sergeant is a legend. Great dialogue from him and really shows the best way to best these scumbag protestors is with brains not brawn.

Back to the OP's original problem. Can we not agree that regardless the cause, and regardless who's wrong or right on.the issue - it remains wrong for a small group to deliberately try and cause the maximum disruption to everyone, without warning and refusing to obey any request from the Gardai to move.

I mean, last year between 50 and 100,000 protested ( I don't want this to degenerate into a who's estimate was right) against water charges. It was well publicised, well policed, passed of mostly without incident and with minimum disruption. It resulted in changes to the water charges and it's billing.

After that protest, like last night and on a few other occasions, a minority has decided it was their right to block main arteries of Dublin, píss off everyone, confront the Gardai and act the maggot. They've achieved nothing, they've alienated support for their issue and generally been pricks.

Its my understanding from what I seen on social media that they protesting over a guy being remanded in custody for a week: to which they should by logic protest outside the place he's held in custody; blocking any busy road or busy bridge at 5 evening hour when people are coming home from doing a days work is both counter productive + fcuking idiotic; I am against water charge's on principle; but those clown's blocking o connell bridge last night in no way shape or form represent me.

For clarity I wad there and attended the national protest in Dublin last October + the local protest last November, the difference been those two protests were announced in advance so people could make alternative travel arrangements if needed, blocking a busy road or busy bridge at evening hours with no advanced warning or notice to people, who are trying to come home from a days work serves no purpose and only further alienates people.

Nope. Just means the shortfall being covered through tax rather than on a per use basis. The lower rate will actually cost a middle income earner more over all.
