Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This could be a great day, but with the effects of the TT in their legs and the likely-decisive climb of the Mortirolo to come on Tuesday after tomorrow's rest day, it could well be a day for a truce among the GC guys, could a breakaway succeed?

The weather at least should be OK, with temp around 10° and about a 25% chance of rain before the finish.

    TV coverage starts at noon

Insanely high pace so far...Saxo Tinkoff working very very hard. Zakarin and Visconti in the break. Betancur and Nieve are chasing

Zardini, Pelizotti and Chaves also chasing

I love tennis and especially rolland garros but not the bloody first round. P*ss off federer and finish him already :pac:

Watching it live on Rai. Great footage of sticky bottles and bizarrely one lad answering a nature call over a bridge. Can't speak Italian but easy enough to follow

Dropping like flies so they are

Not my two picks Betencur or JvdB

Ixausti & Visconti look strong today

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,428 ✭✭✭Talib Fiasco

    Contador on his own.

Betancur could well podium at this rate...Porte I presume will pull out and it's been an awful Giro for Uran too.

Kruiswijk very strong....expecting a massive final week from him

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,606 ✭✭✭MPFG

    Kruiswijk is very strong ....

Of dear crash .....JvDB loses out .....Kreuz held up

    Landa needs to attack soon

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,428 ✭✭✭Talib Fiasco

That was brilliant from Contador :pac:

Ha ha, good man Bertie sneaking past the Astana train out for the bonus seconds :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,606 ✭✭✭MPFG

Surely Astan need to attack...Aru needs to go ....

Konig to move up GC as JdVB in crash and 2 mins down and Uran dropped

It looks to me that Aru hasn't the legs. I could be wrong.

    Contador looks very comfortable.

    they/them/theirs

    Aru doesn't look too good.

    Betancur dropped

    Aru doesn't look too good.

    Betancur dropped

Poor Carlos must have spotted a chip van or icecream truck.

Amador is riding a blinder ...amasing what a whole country behind you can do

I believe he ate Porte...that's why Porte was last seen 9 minutes behind

Landa should have been Astana number 1 ...has been best in mountains for them so far

    Contador pure quality

Not exactly a classic stage, but Contador looked very classy. Giro is petering out as a race, bar a fall.

Landa nearly did Contador's job for him, he almost broke Aru.

Contador not going full gas there...Aru is toast. Landa very very strong. Apt successor to Contador there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,353 ✭✭✭Daroxtar

Good win from Landa but was Bertie just toying with Aru there? He looks to be in complete control.
Landas first attack exposed Aru, can't see him catching Contador at all now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,606 ✭✭✭MPFG

Landa could have won more time in first week but was riding for Aru ...and he was best climber....Of course TT not good but then again as good as most GC riders

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,458 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Game, set, match and championship for Contador without a doubt now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,116 ✭✭✭bazermc

I really can't see Porte staying for the final week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

The Astana situation reminds me of the Sky Wiggins/Froome situation in the tour that time.

And today I was expecting them to hammer Contador today with the numbers they had up front.

The Eurosport interview with Koenig at the end of the stage was great laugh. ES "how's Richie?" Koenig "I dont know you'll have to ask him yourself!" and proceeds to cycles off.
