Hi I realise there is a similar thread here on a GTI vs GTD, but I have a different requirements

I'm currently driving a 132 Mk7 Golf 3dr HL in white, with I think 19inch wheels or at least 18"...they seem to have been a 1300euro option.
I have the sports pack on it (tinted rears, with sports suspension and upgraded alloys - except the car was in another dealer garage, but was taken from them for me - the alloys wern't the standard 'sport pack' ones - they were a lot nicer...!!!

I have the car 2 years now and am on a PCP. the dealer mentioned that I could come in in 2 years if I wanted and maybe change (its a 3 year pcp).

I had a opel astra 1.7d, 125bhp previously and found it to be slightly better powered. I believe the Mk7 1.6 diesel I have is maybe 110bhp?

Anyway, as I say I really like the Mk7 - but might like a bit more poke....

So question is, do I go an get a mk7 GTD for 37k? (list price...is around this) or would I Be better off going for a 3dr 2.0L (I know its not listed for 3dr, but when I was originally looking in 2013, they told me they could et it in a 2L. I didn't go for it at the time..... about 2k euro more
Also in 2013, it was only a 2 year gaurentee, seems to be 3 years now?

The free extras brings the spec up a good bit from my HL spec - ACC, full climite, satnav, reverse/forward sensors and camera....

the big differance I see in the HL and the GTD is the engine and headlights??? is that about it? (maybe front headlight washers as well?)

Also, I would like DSG on the HL (wouldn't get it on the GTD as it would blow the budget altogether :-) ) - Don't have DSG on the current car either - what is DSG like in a 1.6 diesel? under powered? DSG is another 1700 or so as well.....

Lastly I see on VW.ie they say the spec is about to change for offers on 152 plate cars, will this mean a better spec or will the current free extras be gone (and not make me tempted to change at all then).

Any advise would be greatly appriciated!

PS will go 3 dr again, in white, but wonder what the flat red is like - anyone got nice pics of the 3dr in tornado red?

    Liam

You really need to test drive examples of both cars to be honest. The GTD will have a little bit extra poke over the standard 2.0 litre 150bhp but the DSG is such a nice gear box.

I would like to, but I'm thinking that a 3dr 2.0 with DSG might be rare enough to find as a demo model.
Also I have the sports suspension in my present Mk7 and while it can be rough enough on potholed roads, it stick to the road like glue (or is it the massive tyres on the wheels???...???/ :-)
Hardly any body roll at all- and I like it.
