Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I watched the trailer, stupidly... lots of Vin Diesel's XXX going on there, and Winstone's accent is atrocious alright..
Did they also give away the ending..?

Couldn't care less about Point Break being remade.

I could care less, however, about the crimes against colour grading and cinematography made in that trailer. Looks like the child that would be born following an unholy threeway between a GoPro video, a mediocre TV crime drama, and a Red Bull advertisement.

I think i will pass on this and just enjoy the original, to see this would ruin a lot of great memories of the original film for me.

Who knows for anyone who didn't see the 1991 film they might enjoy the updated version.

Paraphrasing here (because I'm not watching that again)
But this has to be the worst, most inconsequential piece of dialogue I've ever come across.
"They're not normal criminals. The people doing this, like me, are extreme athletes"

How they didn't follow it up with any of
    "Dear God"
"You've trained for everything, but not this"
"I was one day away from retirement"
    is a complete mystery.

So true, it looks awful. Not only because of the content, but because of how it actually looks to the eye

The whole point of the Mad Max films is that there is no real continuity, they are fables being told by historians. It's why his V8 can be destroyed and reappear, the storyteller has dramatic license.

There is continuity between the first three Mad Max films.

    (1) In Mad Max, Max gets the V8 from his boss. His family are killed, he avenges them and then drives off into the distance.

    (2) In Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, we pick up where Mad Max left off, driving in his V8. By the end of the film, his V8 is destroyed, and he is left on his own again.

    (3) In Mad Max Beyond Thunderome, we open with Max in a camel-drawn wagon, which he is using because his V8 was destroyed.

Also, the only Mad Max film which is a fable from the perspective of a narrator is The Road Warrior. Neither of the other two have voieover narration.

I can somewhat answer this because I came across it in research for an academic essay recently.

Out of the top 10 grossing movies of 2014 the only film that was NOT a reboot, remake, part of a franchise or a sequel was Christopher Nolans Interstellar.

    Feck.

    :(

Wow, this looks like a pile of crap! And agree with the poster above Ray Winstone's accent is terrible! Going to avoid for sure.

If you didn't know better you would think it was a trailer for one of The Asylum mockbusters.

Looks so far removed from the original, as someone said. Instead of being just brilliant bank robbers who are surfers, the criminals here appear to be anarchists looking to destroy the economy and they do all manner of extreme sports.

It doesn't look like much, but seeing as I loved the original so much, I might give this a shot when it's released. Once it's a decent enough bit of harmless fun, it might be ok to watch. But I've a sinking feeling it could be truly awful. That trailer doesn't fill me with much hope.

Point break is one of my favourite films. I have watched it many times.
Safe to say I won't be watching the re make.

    .

This is a big problem for me with a lot of action movies these days. It always has to be epic, it can't just be some small time criminals robbing a jewelry store or something. The criminals are always very smart, and young and cool, and want to take over the world for some unknown reason.

That's what was great about the first Point Break, they guys were just robbing banks to fund their surfer lifestyle. Simple.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

That looks fu*king dreadful. Where do you start...

Even the acting seemed appalling from that 2 minute trailer.

They needed a big name for this to stand a chance, but I doubt that could've saved this dog of a film.

And what's up with the colour!?!

I'm never going to watch this.

I think it's fair to say that point break is a cult classic.
It would be like remaking pulp fiction.

This still looks watchable, i am going call it a different name.

"Bodhi, do you have any idea how many people you've killed? How many laws you've broken?"

Lol. Bracey is totally channeling Keanu with his delivery.

Nicholas Angel (Hot Fuzz) on Point Break:

Well, I wouldn't argue that it wasn't a no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride. But there is no way you can perpetrate that amount of carnage and mayhem and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork.

Let see what they can make of it, atleast my money is not going into production. Worse you contribute with your circle and rent/stream. It couldn't be that bad

Hahah, you're all going on as if the original was some master piece. Let's be honest, it's woeful! But it's so off broadway it's on, as they say. I love Point Break because of that.

So, you know, I'm hoping this movie is awful too... So far so good! :D

    Pretentious guff.

The original Point Break is not a masterpiece. What it is, is a thoroughly enjoyable action film.

Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze complimented each other very well. Sure, the acting is by no means great, but that's usually what you get in these films. Yet it delivers overall.

I think that Point Break is one of those films which if watched as a kid you love but if viewed for the first time as an adult you really do wonder what all the love is about.

Lets face it. We all would have tried to remake Point Break, but yous have to know the sea for that. You cant just go half in, it has to be full on.

Won't be paying to see this in the cinema, I'm not even pushed for the actual movie itself, but after hearing Junkie XL's score on Mad Max I'll watch this to hear his score.

Just out of it and it's Awful!!

Point Break was a action film and was a decent one. Bodhi, Pappas & Harp were fun characters and Keanu Reeves played himself as usual

I went to the cinema, bored, this evening expecting very little from this and I didnt think much of it. It felt like an extreme sport heist film that was rewritten to shoe horn in Point Break nods so the marketing department had something to work with.

Bodhi, Pappas & Delroy Lindo were bland, very bland characters. I wish Michael Bay did this film, at least he'd have gotten more practical stunts into the film rather than the complete CGI that was used.

I enjoyed the wingsuit set piece, the thoughts of doing something like that gives me goosebumps

Wow, what a travesty of an attempt at remaking this classic. Avoid this at all costs.
