    Hi,

Has anyone managed to get a (bog standard 3rd party) VOIP phone to work with Eircom's latest F2000 modem.
Eircom claims there are no know problems, but I have tried one with two different VOIP phones with no luck.  BTW, Phones work fine when modem is swapped with the old F1000 model etc.

The same questions have been asked here, with standard response:

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

    Hi Tow

I appreciate your concern and understand this is important for you however eircom provide the F2000 on the terms of performing the function intended and provisioned by eircom. Unfortunately VOIP is not provided by eircom and as a result we will be unable to assist with the modification of the modem to suit third party functions or equipment.

That is not to say you cannot pursue this functionality at your own discretion and to do so I recommend following the link below to the F2000 user manual:

    Thanks
    Al

    Hi Alan,

Can you link to any technical documentation for the function intended and provisioned by eircom?

VOIP phones should not require any changes to a modem's default settings.

    Hi Tow

We have a large range of tutorials and documentation which can be found here : http://support.eircom.net/bb/

We also operate a technical support department which can be contacted by phone on 1901 or Via Instant WebChat here: www.eircom.ie/chatnow.

I understand your views in relation to the VOIP phones however in some cases VIOP phones will require a change of settings but this is ultimately beyond our control.

    Cheers

    Al

I realise that this is an old post, but in case anyone comes across it when searching for a solution to the same problem (as I did), I thought I would link to a post where a solution was found:

    http://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2057429526/1#post95460485

Basically, you probably need to go to the router's settings -> Internet -> Forwarding -> ALG, then untick the option "Enable SIP ALG". Thanks to user Airliner for the solution.

By the way, I had to restart my computer after making the change before it worked (I am using a Windows VOIP client).
