    Yep, you are right.
Holding the power button for about ten seconds has booted it up again.
Still think I am out of my league so at this point I think I will take it to a phone repairs shop if anybody can recommend a decent one

A phone repair shop will most likely not sort it out for you. They are fine for dealing with known brands and replacing screens etc. but fixing a bricked chinese phone is probably not something they offer a service.

Well I gave it a try and when trying to get the phone into emergency download mode it completely shut down and now is it seems fully bricked.:(:(:(:(
Does anybody know a decent and trustworthy phone repair shop I can bring it to, preferably near the Dublin 3 area.

Try pressing volume up and power together to enter fastboot mode

Anybody have any experience of cancelling an order with AliExpress straight after ordering It? If so how long did it take to get your money back? I ordered and cancelled on the 26th Oct, I know it can take days but I'm just concerned and would like to hear if anyone got their money back safely. Thanks it's over €220.

Okay, I got to the stage where I tried to install the new driver onto the phone and at first it wouldn't let me in and then the phone just died.
I reckon it is properly bricked this time as it is isn't responding to any signals or even an attempt to charge.
I am open to any ideas at this stage

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

There is noob guides for these, its almost impossible to make a mistake.

You don't sound like you have the slightest idea of what you're doing though.

I'd be more than happy to try and sort it out if you want to send it over to Mayo.
Someone closer might help out possibly?

You can't fully brick a phone really, unless you turn it off while its installing.

To be honest I wouldn't be overly techie but my son who is, was helping today.
We got to the stage where were were trying to install the driver and we got a message saying that the current driver was the optimum one, which was not something that happened in the step by step guide.
While he was trying to see was there a work around, the phone vibrated and was no longer visible on the pc.
Since then it is not responding to the on button or to being plugged into a charger. A charging light should normally appear.

What driver? The windows driver for flashing?

This is a fools proof guide, with everything you need here.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-3/development/redmi-3-pro-spacex-rom-t3406919

Looks like you need to unlock the bootloader to flash any roms, assuming the place you bought it re-locked the bootloader.

I got the Redmi note 4 from geekbuying. No issues at all with them. I opted for free shipping so took a good month to get here, but I knew that and I was in no rush to get it. I love the phone but am still figuring it out, sometimes my whatsapp/ viber/ fb messenger notifications don't show.. anyone have any ideas what settings I need to change to get them showing?

What type of cover are you looking for? I got this one from aliexpress and its spot on

Do people find the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 to be slippery in the hand? I'd hope to just stick with the tempered glass and avoid using a case if possible, but if it's a real trickster in terms of jumping out of your hand all the time I suppose I'd have to go with a case.

I see that that case is made up of two separate parts, a metal bumper and acrylic back - do you know if the bumper would work well (i.e. fasten securely to the phone and do a job at protecting the edges) by itself, if you didn't bother attaching the back bit?

Mine has a crappy rubbery clear cover on it for now. It's not as slippery as my old HTC M8 though, that thing just flew out of my hand and smashed one day, I just picked it up!
