This took an even worse turn, the blur is now full on black, there are more different coloured lines on the screen and the it has a mind of its own. That's me done with Umi, the phones are brilliant other than their shoddy screens, Bluboo Maya Max on the way now should have it by tomorrow :)

Careful with Bluboo. I had an xfire2 last year and ended up having an issue with loads of flashing coloured lines going down the screen. Also the jingle when the phone first comes on was rage inducing (although it can be disabled if you root the phone).

I've decided to getting a Redmi Note 4 today. In the next hour in fact, seems to have great reviews.

I've been looking at the real budget phones. I would like NFC, but I'm really struggling to find that on them at all. Kimovil doesn't allow it as a filter either. Does anyone know any sub €200 phones that have NFC?

At this rate I'll get a cheaper phone to keep me going and change again next year when funds allow for a better phone.

The Nokia 5 is the only one I can think of that's close, but now that I search it seems hard to find.

For what purpose? There's a schism in NFC.

I would like to be able to use android pay. I don't have contactless payment on my debit card. Thats it really.

If its not something easy to get on them I'll stop looking for it. I just thought someone here might know more about it than me.

    Does this meet your requirement?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07235PGDB

I'm looking at it since the NFC thing seems like a no go.

Cool. Would you mind putting a quick first impressions post in here for me?

I was looking at that too, but I decided on a better screen, given how much I watch on my phone.

Looks a great job for 70 euro though.

I guess Kimovil may be using the term fast charging to indicate QC or VOOC or DASH.

    Its QC3.

    QC is Qualcomm

    https://www.mediatek.com/features/pump-express-fast-charge

    That seems to be it

Claiming roughly half standard charging time, that's for the oukitel k6000 phones

Go the extra 50 and get this http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057757873

Just got it for herself and might just get another for me after using it and setting it up for her, nice piece of kit for the money

So I picked up the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X. First impressions are good. Particularly happy with the battery, my last phone would be almost dead by now since last charge and this is still on 75%. Also I'm getting a decent signal in my apartment and my Metal was really gone to hell in that department. Paid €199 so bit over the odds in comparison to online prices but not that much so if I'd to pay Excise on it it would have been more expensive I think.

My S6 edge is on it's last legs. Was planning on getting a G6 next but the Mi 6 is turning my head now as I've just discovered it. Any opinions on it over the LG? Cheers.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-redmi-note-43gb-32gb

It's for my wife - she's a light user. She would mostly use the browser and a few apps - no gaming, might watch a little bit of YouTube. She does stream YouTube to the TV and Google Play Music / TuneIn Radio to the Chromecast.

She's looking for a new phone as her old HTC is gone to crap and would like it top last her two years without going crappy.

Reviews of Xiaomi Redmi Note seem to be good but there are so many variations that it's confusing.

Was also thinking about this one - https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-redmi-note-4-global-3gb-32gb

slightly slower processor but it is snapdragon.

EDIT - definitely the second one actually due to it having Android 7 and being available!

The note is a great phone.

The note is a great phone.

Thanks. I see it from bang good there for 121 euro - seem to tick all of the boxes. I will pull the trigger tonight I'd say.

Don't buy from geekbuying, ordered the note 4 64gb global version, and was no Google play store installed!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,010 ✭✭✭eamonnq

I have used Geekbuying a few times for phones, with no issues and would not be putting people off buying from them because of that.

I've narrowed my search down for now. I have to skimp on some things I would have liked, but I'll save up and hit a higher bracket. I just need something to keep me going till then.

    https://www.kimovil.com/en/compare/blackview-bv7000-pro,ulefone-power-2,vernee-apollo-x,xiaomi-redmi-note-44gb-64gb-global

Does anyone have any opinions on any of these phones?
    Blackview bv7000 pro
    Blackview P2
    Vernee Apollo X
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 - (The global one with Snap processor and 4GB RAM)
    Ulefone Power 2

And talking of buying from geekbuying, I was looking at the Spanish warehouse, but will it be the same using the German or Italian warehouses too? As in will they all bypass customs for us?

Have the Xiaomi and absolutely love it. Was with a friend of mine that has a Samsung s7 edge and I can honestly say I would rate my phone above his when there side by side even though he gave 680euro
