Newer chips are less power-hungry I think ?

Pushing a 5" screen though, it's not very much battery

Ive found its the other way round, hence why I went through 3 different phones until I stopped on the THL 5000, snapdragon processors are the best for consumption.

I had a ULEFONE BE PRO for a while and found the battery life was excellent, 5.5inch screen with a 2600ma battery. Am currently using a TCL M2U which has a 3500mah battery (5.5in screen) and again the battery life is great.

    What processors have they got?

Trying to decide between the meizu m2 and the Vodafone smart prime ultra... Which is the better phone?

Comparing the two on gsmarena.com, there's hardly anything between the 2 on paper. Except for the Meizu being dual sim.

But with the Vodafone you can just walk into a shop and get one!

Any recommendations for Chinese handsets with LTE-A (300Mbps vs 150Mbps)? I might have use of an LTE-A service soon and may as well make the most of it.

I'd go for it at 300 or so but don't think it is worth it for that

Looking like phone companies are starting to put better batteries in the phones, I wont touch anything below 3000 and even then they can be crap.

So it'll be roughly that. There's an international version at the end of the month, sold from Zuks website

I got a K3 last week, and from reading around it's always recommended to flash a new ROM. Apparently the default Chinese ROMs come with some malware built in, and many shops load their own on top of that too.

I flashed it to the latest international ROM (ROW) which is supposedly malware free, and it works great.

Really is an amazing phone for €150.

Hi steven, do you have a link for that ROM please? I have the K3 Note several weeks at this stage and I'm generally happy with it. However, there was a lot of bloat / malware on it - whether this was loaded by Lenovo or Antelife I don't know. I eventually got rid of most of it and battery life shot up. However, there is still the frequent annoyance of SyncIt popping up reminders (**** off I don't want you!). Then the other day something popped up just as I went to tap something in Facebook and I ended up tapping that instead (no, really!) with the result that I now get pop up 'girly' ads in Facebook as well as similar apps installing. And they keep installing even when I delete them. A few other apps also regularly re-install themselves, without my permission. From what I've seen, AOSP seems popular but I've also heard this can be bundled with malware. There is a CyanogenMod ROM available but I've heard it's unstable. So any reliable, malware free ROM is welcome!

Howye lads, customs sent me out a letter there, they want to see the purchase invoice so they can add on Import duties. The phone cost $220, how much am I likely to have to pay?

Still waiting for my K3 - will be flashing a new ROM as soon as I get it. Lots of good info here (checkout the wiki) and here and this guy has a video about malware removal & a couple of other K3 ones too.

The VAT alone is 23%. Sounds about right to me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 228 ✭✭Bacon and Cabbage

Yeah 23% vat + 7 euro "an post fee". Bollox anyway, ordered from some lad on aliexpress who was recommended here as being vat free. Luck of the draw I suppose! Live and learn

Ah crap yeah, I subtracted the dollar price instead of the euro one :( Sorry Bacon

Tell the seller you were caught for vat and see what he says
