If something is stopped by customs how do they notify you?
I tracked the package(UMI emax) and it arrived in Ireland yesterday at 08.30 but I've heard nothing since. I would have thought it would be delivered today. I'm getting it sent to Parcel Motel.

The tracking will update (probably to SENT TO CUSTOMS), or ON ROUTE TO CUSTOMER.

Are PayPal any use in getting money back from gearbest?

Certainly worth a try as there must have been thousands of claims against them

Got a new update on my jiayu s3, xtreme rom v1.3, the battery 20 percent drop is finally solved, 20 megapixel cam, and I use viper4android which makes it soung nice and loud. Good phone, only thing is I wish it had gorilla glass because its as sensitive as a laptop screen when pressing a bit harder, great device for the price

I've had my S3 about a week and I'm loving it. I haven't been blown away by anything in particular, feels like another Android phone, except for the massive (biggest phone I've ever had) size screen and it's brilliant quality. Need to play around with it a lot more. Like others have mentioned I have been a little puzzled about the sound quality, but if a free app solves that then no big deal.

As of now, would I recommend the S3? Yes I would.

Folks, going to purchase a phone at some point this week and swayed towards the Meizu M2.

I will obviously want to get access to play store so what ROM would you folks suggest using?

Will you fit it yourself ? Screen is about 60euro (+vat + handling if customs stop it 15-25 euro on top of that. If you have to pay someone to fit it you could be looking at paying close to 100euro for a repair to a phone that costs about twice that ?

OK so my umi emax came Friday evening.
First impression I'm very happy with the look and build of the phone. For a 5.5 inch screen phone it isactually nice and comfortable to use and hold.
Two issues though. One of the reasons I opted for the emax was the supposed great battery life.
So far I haven't seen anything to be impressed about. Battery is dropping at a rate of about 11% an hour. I had read posts saying they were getting two days on medium usage. Granted I've been playing a bit with it installing apps and the like but I'm disappointed with battery life so far.
Also I have yet to see a 4G signal on it, it's always 3G.

Personally, I'd get him the smaller size, and then maybe move up in a year or so. Especially if he's moving from an old Nokia or something.

Some stores that provide EU delivery

    http://www.coolicool.com/
    http://www.efox-shop.com/
    http://www.oppomart.com/
    http://www.geekvida.com/
    http://www.aliexpress.com/store/18182325

These have a smaller screen, still pretty big though (5 inches) and a decent price.
Ulefone Paris - I'm not sure what it's battery is like though, maybe someone here has it and can comment.
    Meizu M2
    Asus ZenFone 5 A500KL

It maybe worth going even smaller again as that would still be quite big.
4-5 inches should be decent enough size for him.

Thanks. Had a look at all those. I think the Ulefone Paris looks like a good fit. Seems to have everything he should need. The 5.5 inch would be a bit too big for him I'd say.

I can get the phone with a leather cover and tempered glass for €120 which is a good price and leaves enough room for customs then if I am stung.

Is there much of a difference between these websites? I haven't ordered off them before

Gearbest have just offered me a refund of 35$ on a dead 135$ phone. What a deal.

Can I ask what happened regards the phone. Did it arrive and not work at all? I am considering ordering from gear best. Are the well known for this type of thing?

    Gearbest, Dealsmachine, DX

    and the list goes on.

Banggood and Allbuy seem to be a different type of Chinese store, as they do offer replacements, refunds and warranties. That said, at any time they could decide not to and you may be left without anything.

Chinese sites have gone crazy with their prices they have raised them to similar prices as you would buy here.
If buying a Chinese product for €100+, I prefer to buy from somewhere I know I can return to should anything go wrong (Europe). It could also help keep some of the prices down.

How long is a piece of string? Depends on what you want in a phone? Budget? Dimensions ... too many factors for their to be one answer.

Ordered from Geekvida (I used the German one as it had the discounts I wanted), on the 25th.
I chose delivery from China (slower, but cheaper) and it arrived yesterday, duty paid :):) - 7 working days.
That's two phone ordered from them and both were quite quick.

The first one was in March/April and took 3 days from Mainland Europe.

One Plus X or Xiaomi Mi4c? Have an invite for the OPX so giving it serious thought.

I prefer the looks of the OPX but the larger battery of the Mi4c tempting.....anyone more technical minded tell me which phone is a better all round spec?

OK guys time to upgrade from my Neo N003,budget is approx €200 and the Jiayu S3 seems to be the best bang for buck phone available in that price bracket, but reports of sound and battery issues are putting me off,

Any other 5.5" phones worth looking at?

Ive been researching the vodafone smart ultra 6 as a possible purchase and it has got great reviews all round at a great price too. Whats really putting me off about it though is the gigantic screen, my previous phone was a moto g at 4.5 inch screen I was quite happy with. Can any suggest anything closer to that screen size with decent spec? Thanks

As you said. They're both pretty evenly matched, the Onepus X slightly beating it all round and in construction (glass\metal) but losing points in the battery.

Yep, and Spain,Portugal or Italy. Each often have different offers on, so worth checking them out. and the coupons usually appear in the banner on the homepage.
I used Google Chrome to translate.
