House Lannister had one, but one of the Lannister ancestors sailed off with it and never returned, others sailed after him looking for him or the sword, they never came back either. Essos/Asshai direction they went. But thats the book.

They will probably pull Valyrian swords from everywhere in the show, or start forging them again inexplicably.

Edit: Who directed last night's episode btw? The tracking shot of Jon running through the battle hacking down wights had me wondering was it Neil Marshall again.

Same guy who did the Red Wedding. Can't think of this name, could google it I suppose..But I am lazy.

Edit, I am wrong about the red wedding.

Kit Harrington has his detractors but he has developed fantastic swordsmanship skills over the series.

I like him as an actor as well - at least, I like him as Jon Snow.

He's really coming into his own in fairness, there's going to be a meltdown from non-readers when they see what happens next (at first anyway).

Ya he is very good as Jon Snow in fairness. Seems to have the personality of a plank of wood in real life though.

That last 20mins was pure cinema spectacle but in a TV show, wow.

    ...stabby..

Not as big as the meltdown I will have if Ramsey kills Stannis next week with his 20 men.

Would love if Ramsay gets killed, do not see it happening though.

Brienne has to do something this season, hopefully she follows the 20 men and kills Ramsay.

Worst possible scenario is Stannis being killed.

Second worst and most likely is Brienne helping Sansa & Theon escape and in the mean time Ramsay either kidnaps or kills Shireen, somehow gets away with Stannis' sword, and then we end up getting the pink letter in ep 10.

Well the 2nd is entertaining there, seeing Shireen get killed by Ramsay will be extremely unpleasant.

Liam Cunningham said in an interview recently
He was asked point-blank if Season 5 had any moments more shocking than the Red Wedding. His answer:
I would think so, yes. It’s towards the end of the season, and when I got the scripts, when I got to this particular section, I went: ‘You’ve gotta be kidding me.’”

Ramsey and his 20 men killing Shireen/Stannis perhaps?

Ramsay kidnaps Shireen, Stannis marches on Winterfell, Brienne kills Stannis, Theon helps Sansa, Yara appears and kills Ramsay and rescues Theon/Sansa - and Brienne gallops off with Sansa. Roose is left with Shireen.

That's gotta be referencing Jon getting stabbed. That's gonna have a much bigger impact than the red wedding, people like Jon a lot more and he is very much seen by non book readers as one of the safe characters along with Danny and Tyrion.

I reckon however all this plays out Sansa will send Brienne to find Rickon.

I thought that was one of the lowlights. Not a big fan of the errol flynn nonsense that fight choreographers can't seem to resist as soon as swords are involved

    Brienne kills Stannis!

Be great if Lady Stoneheart captures and hangs Ramsay before he kills Stannis.

Another possible scenario, is Mel see's this attempt in the flames. Come on, she has to be good for something, she is pretty much useless if she can't see this coming, like she has seen attempts on her own life in the past.

So they know the attack is coming and hand Ramsay his ass, but he gets away, gets back to WF, lies, claims Stannis is dead.

Theon and Sansa are gone in the mean time, gone to Stannis' camp, Ramsay assumes they went to the Wall and sends the pink letter.

Regarding Ramsey and his "20 Good men", I don't think he's going to annihilate the army, more a case of Stannis is going to be Renly'd sans ghost.

Ya its tough to resist something that looks EPIC on the screen.
It's a TV show not a historical reenactment!

All Im saying is that, when you don't have charecters going "oh no he didn't" and similar overblown panto carry on, why indulge in it for the fight scenes?

Just a personal bugbear of mine

Wow - cant agree with that at all. One of the aspects of Jon Snows sword fighting that I enjoy is his relentlessness. He just keeps moving forward. Fancy twirls are all just part of the fun! People just standing and poking each other with swords looks crap onscreen.

Yeah, I feel there has to be some kind of showdown with Brienne/Stannis - although as earlier suggested, Brienne being sent off after Bran and Rickon avoids that AND gives her something to do.

I do think there has to be something with Shireen, but I cant see her being killed. Yet.

So, Jon will have to be resurrected this season as well right? There's no way they'd be able to hide that Kit was filming scenes for season 6?

Well Tywin filmed scenes for season 5 - but it was just him laid out dead.

I wouldn't discount a Mance type of infiltration from the inside. Roose was very cock-sure that the walls of Winterfell would be enough to hold off Stannis. Surely Stannis has a plan to capture the castle that involves more that just a siege in the snow.

Ramsey and his 20 men may be the only ones to survive.

Was I covered in the show that House Tarly have Heartsbane, and Randy told Sam that he'd never own it? It would be very GoT for him to pay a part in winning the war with the sword to which he was heir, but lost the chance to wield.

Randy was referenced earlier this season as the only person to have beaten Robert by Stannis. It's unlike them to reference characters for no good reason, so we could see him and his sword next year (on the way to Oldtown or in the field with the Tyrells against the Ironborn).

Castle forged by Miken. No disrespect to the man, I don't think he had the know how to forge Valyrian steel.

I reckon Brienne will follow Ramsay to Stannis's camp & she will get her revenge. Hate to say that because Stannis is one of my favorite show and book characters but I reckon they might actually ****ing do it.... a lot of foreshadowing regarding it and they always make people out to be decent before they kill them off(stuff with his daughter).

Jon will be stabbed and resurrected by the red woman which will release him from his NW's vow. He will then lead Stannis's remaining forces and march on Winterfell to take back his home. Then next season he will find out he is actually a Targ and when Dany finally arrives in Westeros she will become an ally of her long lost nephew considering she needs allies as Tyrion pointed out.... Dorne will probably be brought in to it too. By the end of next season we'll have the winner of the Iron Throne. Season 7 will be all about the battle with the others. The Song of Ice & Fire.

I think lady stoneheart turning up at this point is extremely unlikely.

When Tyrion listed the houses she wouldn't be able to count on as allies House Martel wasn't mentioned. Tyrion also said that the only other person he'd trust would be Jaime who happens to be in Dorne. Jaime also said next time he saw Tyrion he would kill him...so it's safe to say they are going to Dorne.

I think its likely that after Ramsay leaves Theon lights the candle in the broken tower for Sansa and we get a simultaneous arrival of Stannis and Brienne at Winterfell leading to some kind of showdown between Brienne and Stannis and the rescue of Sansa/Theon.

Your false king is dead, bastard. He and all his host were smashed in seven days of battle. I have his magic sword. Tell his red whore.
Your false king's friends are dead. Their heads upon the walls of Winterfell. Come see them, bastard. Your false king lied, and so did you. You told the world you burned the King-Beyond-the-Wall. Instead you sent him to Winterfell to steal my bride from me.

I will have my bride back. If you want Mance Rayder back, come and get him. I have him in a cage for all the north to see, proof of your lies. The cage is cold, but I have made him a warm cloak from the skins of the six whores who came with him to Winterfell.

I want my bride back. I want the false king's queen. I want his daughter and his red witch. I want this wildling princess. I want his little prince, the wildling babe. And I want my Reek. Send them to me, bastard, and I will not trouble you or your black crows. Keep them from me, and I will cut out your bastard's heart and eat it.

Ramsay Bolton, Trueborn Lord of Winterfell.

They definitely lost one, and then had none. Until they melted down Ice.

Anyways. here is a list of all the Valyrian Steel Swords.

    http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Valyrian_steel
    Blades known to still exist:

Heartsbane, the ancestral two-handed greatsword of House Tarly, currently in the possession of Lord Randyll Tarly.
Lady Forlorn, the ancestral sword of House Corbray, currently in the possession of Ser Lyn Corbray.
Longclaw, the ancestral Valyrian steel bastard sword of House Mormont. Currently in the possession of Jon Snow.
Nightfall, the ancestral blade of House Harlaw and currently wielded by Ser Harras Harlaw.
Oathkeeper, one of two Valyrian blades reforged by Tobho Mott from Ice. The blade was made for Ser Jaime Lannister, but he has given it to Brienne of Tarth for use in her quest to locate Sansa Stark. The blade was given its name, Oathkeeper, at that time.
Red Rain, the sword of House Drumm, which was stolen by them in a raid.[7] Given the name and coloring, possibly the ancestral sword of House Reyne.
Widow's Wail, one of two Valyrian blades reforged by Tobho Mott from Ice. Following Joffrey Baratheon's death, ownership of Widow's Wail has presumably passed to his younger brother, Tommen.
The dagger with dragonbone hilt wielded by Bran Stark's failed assassin, and currently in the possession of Petyr Baelish.
Valyrian steel arakh owned by Caggo.[8]
Valyrian steel axe reputedly possessed by House Celtigar.[9]

Might have been mentioned but I wonder if reforging two swords from Ice meant they lost their special properties?

I guess not because Brienne killing an Other is bound to happen.

I'm thinking they would have lost their special properties, but I doubt that will stop them killing Others in the show. They will just ignore that part.

Sure Brienne is super powered in the show almost. Beating the hound, etc.
She will kill Ramsay and his 20 good men in one blow from her sword and march off to the deal with the others then single handedly.

Just thinking Brienne might be in for more of a fight if its topless dual weilding Ramsay that turns up. The same one that caused the Ironborn to flee.
